Zicam post kidney transplant

I am a post kidney transplant patient. Does anyone know if Zicam homeopathic is safe to use? I was told a while back that zinc in a multivitamin was fine. But, most of the Zicam products now I’ve come across are homeopathic ingredients, not just zinc. Looking into for cold.

I suggest you ask your transplant center as the answer might differ based on one's particular situation.

I googled it and I’m not getting a clear answer. If you’re really suffering, call the on call Doctor and ask. It’s their job! 😌. I hope you feel better soon! 👍😀

Homeopathic has no scientific base. Don't take anything before talking with your care team. There are potential interaction with immunotherapy which can put on risk your new kidney. My suggestion is forget "self made". Rgs

Tolmezzo is correct. You should o.k. this therapy with your nephrologist. I have been told that transplant patients should not even take anything herbal (such as herbal tea) because it can be harmful. I was also to avoid zinc. I think a small amount, such as that in a multivitamin is o.k. I hope you will feel better pronto!

Always check with your transplant center/nephrologist. It depends on your immunosuppressant meds.

I was told my multi vitamins, pro and pre biotics are fine but stay away from anything that says it will improve your immune system. Before my transplant I treated colds with homeopathic treatments now I can't. I was told for a cold I could take a cough med and Tylenol. My transplant center doctor also sent me an app so I can check to see if certain medications will interact with my tacrolimus. She did this because she got tired of my neurologist asking if he could try different medications for my migraines.
