yesterday i had a urine test showing i have high creatinine of 60.9. Can that be right ?

I usually walk 20 minutes in the morning but I didnt walk this morning and had drunk 32 oz of water. I usually drink about 48-60 oz of water etc a day. Salt about 1000 whatevers a day. None added, in-food only.

I know i have kidney disease. My last gfr was 48.

i know i have to rely on my doc but im wondering in the meantime about the 60.9.

Did anyone call you about it/??? Because your doctor sees the results or someone who is on call would see and call you. It is probably an error. Creatinine usually is 1.00 meaning one whole number and two places after the decimal.

thank you. Thats why i wondered since even 6.09 seemed like an error but ???

I got the information thru an automated portal activated when someone adds information to a patients file.

But it was added friday evening so the doc or whoever probably hadnt seen it and when they see it it will be monday.

If it really were 6.09 id probably be in an ambulance on my way to the hospital.

Thank you again.

LIttle story...... once I had a lab done, and I had not seen the results. I got a call from on call, the Doctor did not speak great English. He told me to go to Emergency immediately that my potassium was 6.3 and that I need dialysis immediately. I was so upset... I went and of course my BP was through the roof. They did an EKG, but did not say anything and admitted me to a bed. I waited and waited and finally, they did a lab draw. And we waited and waited... and then a nurse came in a put in a line. Finally, five hours later, a resident came in and said they were admitting me.... mind you, I would have had a heart attack by then. He goes to open an admission and my lab finally popped up..... 4.7. I was discharged. I never trust labs completely again.

Thank you 😺. I agree. Machines can be off, as also humans. So we need to decide for ourselves based … IF we can get correct info.

I think it’s like knowing something is wrong with us even if we dont know what it is.

Thank you again for your feedback about your unfortunate experience.

Did the lab check both your urine and blood? It seems to me that your figure seems to from a blood draw. If so, the link below show serum (blood) creatinine tables for men and women. A figure of 60.9 micromoles/L falls in the normal range. I've also included a table for creatinine derived from urine.

Blood: mayoclinic.org/tests-proced...

Urine: medicalnewstoday.com/articl...

A creatinine level of 60.9 mg/dL in a urine test seems unusually high. Typically, creatinine levels are measured in blood tests and are reported in mg/dL or µmol/L, not typically in urine tests.

Given your history of kidney disease with a recent eGFR of 48, it's crucial to discuss this urine test result with your doctor. They can provide insights into what the urine creatinine level might indicate in the context of your overall kidney health. Factors such as hydration status, diet and other health conditions can influence creatinine levels, so your doctor will be best positioned to interpret the significance of this result and advise on any necessary actions or further tests.

In the meantime, continue to monitor your fluid intake, maintain a balanced diet as advised by your healthcare provider and follow any other recommendations they have provided for managing your kidney health.

A random urine creatinine test isn't really going to give as much insight into kidney function as a blood or 24 hour urine test does. It is now for figuring out your albumin to creatinine ratio. 60.9 seems to be in normal range for a random urine test. "Urine creatinine test results are usually reported in mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter). The normal range is around 20 – 275 mg/dL in women and 20 – 320 mg/dL in men."

Looking back at my labs a urine creatinine of 60.6 is well within the normal range of 39 to 259.

You want higher creatinine in your urine - you want your kidneys to get rid of it…

A common urine test is albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR), the lower it is, the better the kidney function.
