My kidneys have been stable for the past 15 years (stage 3), until I got Covid and things changed about a month ago. I went from 1.7 to 2.1 creatinine level and from 4.6 to 5.1 Potassium level. I also did a urine test and this is a level of 900.95 mg/g creat. For the past 15 years, I have been taking 100 mg of losartan and 5mg of amlodipine. I was also working with a dietitian and ended up changing my diet a year ago to include more eggs and even fish in my diet. Unfortunately, this is not working for me since most of the dietitians give you general diets not specific to your numbers indicated by a blood test. I often hear people saying that they work with their doctors/dietitians to determine the appropriate diet. Sadly I haven't encountered that doctor yet. Having said that my nephrologist has advised me to abandon the losartan and start Farxiga.
My question is if anyone lives in Massachusetts, USA can recommend a good dietitian/ nephrologist who also believes in natural homeopathic kidney treatment.

I think homeopathic and ayurvedic medicine does not work well in Kidney disease as ayurvedic medicine make high concentration of blood due to serum creatinine level rise.Have you any real case in which they have take these medicines and get well.
Generally ayurvedic medicine doctor lower the BP and inform patients that you have recovered but they still hiding that they lower the BP of patient below 70.
There are certain things I would use a homeopathic DR for and I have...but no way for CKD. Too many things to go wrong. The first steps is always diet, then medication review. Losartan can raise your potassium. Maybe trying something different.
My husband went from low 3b to almost stage 2 and it was because of Farxiga. He has diabetes and cardiovascular issues which all have improved. Farxiga is not a blood pressure medication.
My mum adopts a personalised, Nutritional Therapy protocol and doubled her eGFR in 5+yrs as well as ditched here BP medication 🤞. So maybe try a qualified Nutritional Therapist specialising in CKD.
She radically changed her nutrition and lifestyle with a much better diet eg nil-min processed food, more water etc. Her eGFR increased from 36 post-nephrectomy to a stable 60 nowadays and creatinine has fallen accordingly. Urinary protein has generally increased but only to a max of 0.44g/24h so far 🤞 - her nephro (did not provide any guidance!) is happy with this.
NT is amazing! Meds/drugs generally suppress symptoms or block actions. This ignores root causes of medical issues and/or causes damaging side effects.
Dieticians and NTs are different. Based on personal, past experience and knowledge that Dietetic associations are funded by pharma (link available), I personally wouldn't consider dieticians.
Mum's NT protocol has been directed by myself as a qualified NT but I'm practicing remotely in non-renal areas. I could send you links to others that specialise in renal?
Sorry I dont know anyone in Boston (Im UK based) but I expect most will work remotely. See below 2 links, the 1st NTs only and the 2nd includes NTs (and dieticians, which I cant recommend for reasons stated). Youll have to check to decide which fit best eg renal specialism. WAS taking, she's had NO medication at all since weaning off bisoporol several years ago 🤞 We are all drug-free at home which we believe is due to the power of NT.
Thanks and totally agree with a personalised approach which a good NT normally adopts. Sadly the OP is not receiving that from doctor/dietician and we have experienced that too.
I started homeopathic treatment with a practice in Calcutta, India early Dec. They asked me to move to a vegan diet. Blood work 2 months later show no change in creatinine from Dec, but it is slightly better than it was in Nov. I bought a 6 month treatment plan as they are quite expensive for foreign patients. Will see how it goes and report back. Then if there is no major difference then I will stop medication but keep the diet and see if that helps and go from there.
I got another test done in Feb and the creatinine and protein in Urine increased. I have started Farxiga 10mg 6 days back and the blood test now shows even more creatinine. Up from 2.34 to 2.6. Has anyone experienced increased creatinine with Farxiga? Is it temporary?
I can't speak for the homeopathic side of things unfortunately. Just wanted to mention that I too am from Massachusetts and was put on Farxiga.
I was kept on Lisinopril at a low dose (5 mg). Sometime before the Farxiga I was taking two BP meds (the other being a low dose of amlodopine) but since my blood pressure was trending on the low side we discontinued the amlodopine.
While farxiga isn't a blood pressure med, it does have a sort of secondary effect of lowering blood pressure which is why they might either lower your BP dosage or take you off altogether depending on where your readings are.
I've been on farxiga for a little over a year now. Only over the last few months have we started noticing a decline in proteinuria (the albumin/creatinine ration number), so I'm hoping that's the treatment working. I've heard of it working immediately for other people but that wasn't the case for me. It seems to have taken a while. Just keep that in mind when you start taking it - the improvement might not be immediate. Also there is usually a very slight drop in GFR initially, but it goes back up to where it was after a few months.
Not at this time no. Basically I was told to limit red meat and pork and absolutely no cola type soda (Coke, Pepsi, etc. Sprite is ok) because of the phosphorous. I've stuck mostly with chicken, seafood, tofu and beans for protein and gone heavier on vegetables and fruit with less carbs.
I've stayed steady, so I'm hoping that has something to do with it. Once I start approaching dialysis (whenever that is) I'm sure the requirements will change.
i have stage 3A since 2010 and feel fine but wondering how much water i drink a day as feel i’m drinking too much as get up every 2 hrs to pee and drink 4-5 bottles a day and do happy for you as never saw a kidney dr. want to know what stage you are in. Thanks
Hi Bruisegirl69, I am not sure whether the question was directed at me but the amount of water varies from one person to another based on different factors (weight, weather... I do get up at leat twice a night to empty my blader.
