Daily protein
Typically, around .6gm/kg of body weight, but this is definitely a question for your nephrologist.
depends on your weight. Example: if you are 150 pounds in stage 3, then no more than 40 to 50 grams of protein daily. If you weigh less, then decrease that number.
I'm going to differ slightly from the other answers. Talk to your nephrologist. Your daily protein intake should be based on a lot of things: your weight, your overall health, other medical conditions, your lab work, and others. If you have not seen a nephrologist, then ask your primary care doc to refer you to one.
I started off being seen only by my primary care doctor, who is fantastic; however, she knows a little about everything and not a lot about anything, which by definition is what you want in a primary care physician. Then she referred me to a nephrologist. There I found out that my primary care doc prescribed all the right meds in the right dosages and some of her other recommendations, i.e., the amount of protein, were different than the nephrologist. I left the nephrologist's office with a lot more information and feeling more in control of my ckd.
