Skin problems

I have lost weight since the auto immune and kidney problem and the dialysis has made my skin loose, dry and dehydrated. I'm all crinkly with no collagen present. I use organic coconut oil in the bath and a thick body cream, but nothing appears to make my skin look how it was. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear you're going through so much ! I've had some body changes in the last year that really bothered me; quick weight gain, then quick loss, super wrinkly, dry skin. It's disconcerting ! I look in the mirror and it's not me anymore. My daughter gave me some good advice ( she had an eating disorder in college). She said NOT to look at myself in the mirror too much, to wear soft, comfortable clothes that are forgiving. And to remember my body is working hard to keep me healthy, that the medications I have to take that make me puffy and bloated are being taken to literally save my life. It helped put things in perspective. I still have days I feel badly, but not as many. I hope that helps a little.

Hi, Norfickgal, I have kidney disease but not on dialysis. I had a sudden and very large wt loss from nausea caused by Metformin when diagnosed with pre-diabetes. While I corrected the nausea after a few months and many unsuccessful scans and tests, the weight loss continued. Amazing all the wrinkles and droops loose skin on a bony frame can produce! Look like a closed accordion! Smiles.

Also live in a very dry climate so my skin and hair need additional oils...after oil bath, I use a soft bristled back brush to apply a mix of lotion and baby gel all over; add a light oil to hair and began adding more olive oil to meals. Not sure of your special diet on dialysis and wishing you the best. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone. Others may have remedies that have helped more for dialysis patients.

Hi, I'm not on dialysis yet but have lost a lot of weight and know what you mean. It is somewhat natural for skin to look wrinkley if you loose a lot of weight. Be sure you stay hydrated, some light weights daily to build/keep some muscle and Be sure to use lotion after showering to lock in moisture. I love to use Aveeno with Oatmeal it's very easy on sensitive skin. I still have some wrinkling but not as bad and the lotion makes my skin feels softer and smoother. Best of luck.

Thanks for the replies. So I'm experimenting with a couple of lotions. Bathing and working organic coconut oil into my skin as usual. Then using 100% organic aloe vera or a glycolic acid body lotion. Seen a good improvement. Now for some muscle building exercises. Pumping a couple of baked bean cans💪
