Use Why lower dose of Apixaban?

I'm just curious. I had a phone call from the pharmacy at my local hospital to say that due to the last blood tests one week ago for kidney function, my dose of Abixaban needed to be halfed. She said she would contact my local chemist to inform them but to continue with current dose till I get new tablets. Its strange that the pharmacy should phone and I can't work out if its good or bad news.

No direct experience with that drug, but from experience with 2 cancer patients on chemo in the family and one very bright friend who became a hospital pharmacist, I think that hospital pharmacists are specially trained to analyze and adjust your drug dosages and combinations according to blood chemistry readings.
