What are various reasons for higher creatinine levels.
I am really confused.
I have no health issue.all parameters are perfectly within range.i don't take creatine supplements. I used to take protein supplements and do light weight training. But now have stopped all.is there any chance that creatinine can come down

Hi vinadhun2! Yes, creatinine can come down, but it takes a strict low-protein diet for awhile. I’ve heard that this includes not just animal proteins like fish, meat, eggs and dairy, but also plant-based proteins like nuts, seeds, whole grains, and other legumes.
A diet made up of mainly vegetables and maybe bread products (except whole grain breads, as these also contain a higher protein count) should help bring an elevated creatinine level down. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietician as they are better qualified to advise you on this. If you’re unable to reach your doctor, try looking up a dietician online. I’ve heard that some are available through the internet.
If you used to take protein supplements, and engage in weight-lifting exercises, that may be what caused your creatinine to go up. Nobody can really say how long it will take to come down, but if you do some cardio exercise everyday to keep your heart pumping (nothing too strenuous though), drink a good amount of water daily, and lean back on your protein intake for awhile, your creatinine levels should improve very soon (especially if your kidneys are otherwise doing fine).

I really don’t know any other people in my circle of family and friends who have these types of issues. I also have high creatinine levels right now because of my CKD issues, and I have been trying to stick to a low-protein diet to rectify that, but I am also a type 2 diabetic, so that makes things a little complicated for me.
Being diabetic, I really should be maintaining a low-carbohydrate diet in order to keep my blood sugar levels in check, which has been difficult while trying to lower my creatinine levels. A largely vegetarian diet plan (which is what is best for lowering creatinine levels) isn’t the best thing for controlling diabetes.
It seems that sticking to a proper kidney-friendly diet plan can be tricky when you have other diet-dependant health issues at the same time. Oh well. Lol! Take care! 😊👍
