Bleeding into cyst

A few months ago I went into the hospital for laser stone removal. Surgeon said he could not get them, ureter was too small he said, put a basket in. Weeks go by and another surgery. This time he said he "got them all", Some in the ureter, some in the kidney. After the stint was removed weeks later I kept bleeding, still am. Called doc and he said drink lots of water. So I did, nothing, still tomato juice coming out. so I went to the ER. They did a cat scan and said I have a 25cm (yes cm) cyst on the kidney and the kidney is bleeding into it. Called surgeon multiple times, left message and he will not call me back. Said he needs to look at cat scan from other clinics ER. Is it possible that he shot the laser thru the kidney into the cyst causing this? Now I am finding another urologist. During that time, I saw a general surgeon for another problem and he saw the bleeding into the cyst on the cat scan and said it looked serious and needed attention. Any thoughts on this problem?

If it were my kidney I'd skip the urologist and head straight to a renal specialist.

It does sound like the other doctor is trying to dodge you. Forget him and get someone else to care for you.

Don't hesitate to go to the ER if you worse.

Good luck.

If it were me, I would NOT go back to the original doctor/surgeon. This could mean your kidney health. If problem is worse, like zencat55 said, go to the ER!

Of course I would not go back to that inept doctor. Still amazes me that he never returned my calls. I was worried to have him do a second surgery after he fought with me. Did he "get me back", who knows. I did try to get another opinion with a doctor in another county and he said if I didnt choose him as the primary care giver and take his advice he would not talk to me. arrogant sob. So when you say renal specialist you mean a nephrologist , right? If so, they have said they would not see me, goto a urologist. So, all of my chemistry and urinalysis numbers look great, well except for blood in urine. Friday I have a contrasted ct to see where the blood is coming from. general surgeon already saw where its coming from, but I will play the game. Waiting game.

Be wary of the use of a contrast dye for your test. Contrast dye can be detrimental to your kidney health. Remind the ordering physician that you have kidney disease and do not take the test with the contrast dye until you speak to a nephrologist or a urologist. In any case, before the procedure, get a second opinion.

I've attached an article to explain this better.

The second urologist ordered it and the arrogant doctor said a regular ct is worthless in my case. They need to see where the blood is coming from, only dye can do that. I have already had 2 cts in 2 months so iam not excited about the radiation. Chemistry and function is fine now so iam not sure of the disease part yet. Just big cyst and blood going into it and urine. From what i have learned from going to the er for decades is those doctors are not the greatest for delicate issues and they lie. Just this last time er doc said cyst imploded and was bleeding into kidney. Hence the blood. It did not implode and cysts are not connected to the urine tract. He failed anatomy 101.

If that is the case and you don't want to look for a more informed urologist, then you have a decision to make before the CT. Do you take it with the dye and risk the damage to your kidneys or not. I've had to make a choice like that before. Usually, it involved medications and one other time taking a nuclear stress test. I decided that I had to have some faith in the physicians I was seeing and things worked out. If I didn't feel strongly about that I would have delayed their advice until I could get another opinion. Having a chronic illness does require us to make hard choices so I understand where you are at and I hope you make the choice that works best for you. Let us know how things go.
