In the morning I have a small glass of cranberry-pineapple juice. Orange and grapefruit juice are not good and I can't offer anything on coconut juice.
Thanks again sir i appreciate the infos..
Coconut juice is high in potassium, so you may want to avoid it if you have a potassium restriction. Apple juice and lemonade are OK too, though all fruit juice is going to be high in sugar.
Also coconut juice is high in sodium. Agree with Steve680. Most juices other than cranberry are loaded with sugar. Even though it is natural (if you buy straight juice nothing added), you aren't getting the benefits of the fiber and the nutrients you would by eating the whole fruit. Also, you load up on Vit C very quickly through juices. Though we need small amounts of vit C, you can get those by eating a balanced meal with fruits and veggies. Excess Vit C intake may cause oxalate deposits in bone and soft tissues. Better to use actually fruit in your water to give it flavor. Sometimes I'll add one or two small pieces of pineapple, cherries or blueberries. You can also try cucumbers or other veggies which is very refreshing. Now that it's gotten cold, I started a more savory drink with a few leaves of fresh basil in hot water. Occasionally I'll add a squirt of lime. It's fun to experiment and mix it up.
I like different kinds of homebrew tea. Mostly green or black varieties hot or cold.

Hi Manny,
Manufactured juice is terrible for you. Most are made with grape juice and some of the other fruit. Make your own is much better. But check with you levels of potassium and Vit c before using citrus. It is nice to get a big pitcher of water, float the fruit choices in it and keep it in the fridge. Just make sure to change the water regularly and disposed of old fruit.
My husband hates plain water so he uses a flavor er for his water. He likes cherry Kool-aid. they come in small bottles and you spritz the water as strong as you like it. They do not have sugar in them. However, they do have other chemicals which might not be good for CKD. I think its potassium additive. He is diabetic. He has CKD stage 3a but since he is drinking water more regularly, his GFR went up. The added hydration was more important than worrying about the chemicals in the product for him.
I am not sure what drink is BEST for CKD, when I left the Urologist Friday, she said keep drinking lots of lemon water. I drink between 8-10 glasses of water daily. This includes about half plain water, green tea, 2 ounces of unsweetened cranberry juice and 8 ounces of water, and at the juice from at least one lemon in hot water. Dehydration was one of the MAIN causes of my CKD, my poor kidneys were probably prunes. I have after one month of increased fluids, I am starting to crave them!!! I had about 8 glasses yesterday and last night at midnight I craved a large glass of water!!! hahahahaha
I have been putting mint leaves in my water...very refreshing...
