CKD4 & Constipation

I'm 79. R ureter and kidney removed July 2016, one year after bladder/prostate removed due to cancer. eGFR 27. I am conscientious following a renal diet. That means no bran. I do take a morning dose of Benefiber and stool softeners in the am and pm. I usually have Original Kashi cereal for breakfast (no wheat bran, but plenty of fiber). I eat mostly fruits (like apples) and vegetables. I cannot use stimulant laxatives, but my nephrologist says Mirilax is OK. However, I take an enema. I feel it's safer. Any thoughts on what else I must do? Anyone else experience this problem? Thanks.

I'm answering my own post! I just noticed the topic, "Constipated." Clicked it on and got the valuable info I need. Thanks.

I have diverticulosis and have had surgery for an infected diverticula, including colostomy and reversal. After the surgeries, I have severe problems with constipation that landed me back in the emergency room. They finally told me to see my surgeon again and he advised that I drink prune juice. I drink about 4 oz. each night and it has solved my problems. Yes, it is high in potassium, but I have had not problems with it. Another alternative is Gerbers apple/prune juice for babies. That helps too.
