Recently I was in hospital which turned out to be gallbladder stones resulting in e.coli sepsis. It has to be removed but only March/April. Am I right to be concerned??
Gallbladder stones/e.coli sepsis: Recently I... - Kidney Disease
Gallbladder stones/e.coli sepsis
I had my gallbladder removed on October 7 of 2019. They were able to do it laparoscopically. Surgery started at 10:30 am and I was back home by 4:00 pm. My post-surgery care included liquids for that day and small meals for the two days after that. I had been on a kidney-friendly meal plan for well over two years prior. After the surgery, the only changes I had to make were to eliminate some of the fattier fish that were in my plan. Since then no more salmon and catfish.
If dairy wasn't already out of your meal plan, it should be after this surgery.
I took about two additional weeks to recover and slowly get back to my normal exercise regimen
Now, it's been four months and I'm doing well and zero post-recovery complications. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for the information..there is
a strong possibility it will be an open cut which obviously will take longer to recover (age 83). My concern , as the e.coli sepsis was brought on by stones in the gallbladder, is the length of time I have to wait for the operation. I should also mention I am stage 3b AKI
I was advised that the procedure could go either way, open or laparoscopically. I didn't meet with the surgeon until a week prior to the surgery. After that, it was a few days prior to the actual procedure when I went to the pre-admit at the hospital. They drew blood for labs and ran an EKG. That wasn't enough for me to relax so I did a bit of research online and came across the article below from the Mayo Clinic. It explained so much to me and put me at ease. I hope it will help you.

Thank you mr kidney, for the article on gallbladder removal. I found it interesting and has given me more knowledge of the procedure . Hopefully I will not have to wait much longer for the operation and am very aware of the problem NHS are experiencing.
HI Mybirdbuddie,
I would be on the phone asking with sepsis that they are not at least giving you something for that... like an antibiotic.
Gallbladder surgery these days are pretty easy. I had one and they did it orthoscopic. I bounced back pretty fast. They may be waiting until the infection clears, which I get.... but I would ask why no treatment now.
Don't let them put you off because you are older.
Thank you Bassetmommer...I was in hospital for 4 days on heavy antibiotics and sent home with the rest of the course...that was end November. In actual fact my doctor whom I saw last friday has already written to the consultant surgeon expressing her displeasure at the delay in operating and yes, he has tried to talk me out of having the op...he didn't win!!
