Hello - I have finally received the news that I have been dreading. My nephrologist called this morning and said that all my bloods were fine and showed no problems. So now I have to go in this Friday to have a kidney biopsy. Its a round of blood tests tomorrow to see if my gfr levels have dropped or increased from 16. To say I am terrified is an understatement - I said do I really need to have this done but he will do the test himself and I am sure he will look after me. I have just read so much negative press about this procedure including dying off and kidneys having to be removed etc that I am now in a bit of a dark place. I would love to see some positive comments and outcomes and a few prayers would be helpful. Thanks

Sending positive thoughts your way and hopes your procedure goes smoothly.keep us posted.
I had a kidney biopsy last October. It went OK. I had to stay in the hospital overnight because of the chance of bleeding but that didn't happen. I'm surprised your neph is doing it. I was under the impression that a radiologist and a pathologist did it together in conjunction with a CT machine.
I said a prayer for you. I hope all goes fine and you find out what is causing the problem with your kidneys so your doctor can help you more.
I hope all goes well! I know it’s different but I had 3 biopsies on my transplanted kidney and it wasn’t bad.
You got this. Sounds as if the procedure went well for others. Not only do I hope it goes well I also hope the results are good. Keep us posted. Best always

My first biopsy was part of my evaluation process. For me, the biopsy showed the cause of my CKD. After my transplant I have also had 2 biopsies since they thought I was having a rejection episode. The doctor used an ultra-sound to help guide him. They numbed the area and took the sample. After a biopsy I had to stay laying down flat to prevent bleeding. I had no problems or issues and went home feeling fine.
The biopsy showed that I had FSGS. For me at least it gave me the answers that I was looking for - what caused my CKD.
Keep positive thoughts. Mine went fine with no pain and no side effects. Good luck.
i've had 3 biopsies and all went fine
