Surgery

For 18 months I’ve been back and forth to several appointments at bariatric clinic. They told me operation could be end of this month, then January and now this morning I get a letter telling me they are putting it on hold for 12 months. The clinical psychologist said my head is not in a good place. I know this myself but now I feel like they have built up my hopes to knock them back down again. I was seeing the dieticians for a year and it wasn’t until my last appointment that they told me how many calories I needed to have. I struggle with loosing weight with having under active thyroid and diabetes plus I’ve started with the menopause too. Never used to have cravings ( except when pregnant) but now I crave carbs at certain time of the month.

I need so much help

Hi and welcome, Traceybailey74 :)

Don't despair, bariatric surgery isn't the panacea that a lot of people believe it to be. Read this healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh......

In 12 months you could have lost a lot of weight, making the surgery completely unnecessary. Have a look at these:

Hi TraceyB74.

Certainly don't despair. I don't know the details of your story but I am 53 and have had no thyroid function many years. I am so much thinner, healthier and fitter since joining the weight loss forum a year ago.

I hope you can join the daily diary and lytham christmas challenge.

It really does work.

They may have done you a favour because you could end up able to do this without the pain and trauma of surgery. Stay close to the site for advice and support. Tell yourself you need to do this for yourself and be determined . Have a look at thr diet options and find 1 that could suit you and go for it . Xx

I’ve tried SlimmingWorld and weight watchers with no look. Discovered with sw it was loads of carbs to be eaten and I’m not keen on pasta, plus staying to group where they tell the others if you’ve lost or gained put me off. I followed the plan but in 4 months only lost 6lb.

My problem at the moment is this menopause lark. Never used to crave foods before but now once a month I can’t get enough bread, 3 weeks out of the month I hardly eat bread.

I'm going on 60. Been yoyo dieting all my life and have lost 6st+ on low carb high fat and i love it . It helps with hunger and cravings and i can see me doing it forever. Have a look at it and see if it would suit you. I thought i would have huge problems giving up my sugar and carbs but to be honest i dont miss any of them since i stopped eating them, they are definitely addictive. The more of them you eat the hungrier you get and the more you want . You can do this 🙂 xx
