Don't know where to start.. help!

I'm an emotional eater and managed to get up to 15 stone 10lbs and I'm only 5 ft 2!!

Just don't know how to get motivated or where to start to lose weight. Having high blood pressure isn't great too and I really want to get this weight off.

Any help out there would be great

Hi Hidden

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Hello and welcome to the forum. You have made a great start by signing up lots of friendly people on here who provide support and good advice. I would suggest to start with make sure you have no temptation in your house, take one day at a time and set yourself small targets which will be achieveable for you no matter how small. Dont worry if you have a bad day put it to the side and start afresh the following day.

Good luck with your weight loss journey you can do it.

Great advice and so true. One day at a time. Oh and joining in on this forum is such a big help!

I have untreated high blood pressure too and I'm way too young, with this forum, I'm finallyosing watching what the newbies do wrong and correcting myself. Eat enough calories and you'll lose. Just stick around so you can be accountable. Good luck to you!!!

Welcome Hidden . You're already ahead of the game - motivated by the fact that you have high blood pressure and you want to lose the weight, as well as having identified that you are an emotional eater! Everyone on the forum are really lovely folk and you will learn lots from them and their stories. From the great successes to others who struggle to lose even a tiny amount at a snail's pace (that's me by the way!!!) you can read it all here. Do post yourself - it is the best way to become involved and invested in your own weight loss journey. Take care and good luck in your journey. ☺☺☺

You will find loads of great advice on here! When I feel I am going to start searching for food, I come on here instead and start reading people's posts and replying and it stops me :) Take one day at a time, make one change until it becomes habit then make another change. Drinking more water was my first one and now I automatically reach for water instead of fizzy pop!

Hi Hidden just to let you know one mistake many of us make means we are larger, but many of us think automatically doing this will make us thinner. I used to eat as little as possible because I was always larger than most around me and was desperate to get thinner. I used to eat less and less all the time and was only eating around 1000cals a day which is only half of what I should have eaten in a day but was always putting weight on me instead, this was because not eating the right amount of calories makes your body think you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on instead. To lose weight properly you need to check how many calories you should be having daily on the NHS bmi calculator as this gives you two amounts that you should eat between to be able to lose weight properly and these amounts are not as low as many people think they would be. I was given amounts between around 1490 and 1890 instead of 2000 Cals so it wasn't that low at all and eating 1000 were just making me put weight on most of the time. Good luck with your journey.
