Getting my mojo back !

Hi all. I'm a mum & wife. I have always struggled with my weight. At my worst I have been 20 st, at my least I've been 9st !! I have noticed the weight creeping on and I don't like it!! I don't want to fall into my old habbit of yoyo dieting. So I have read lots on here and I like the plan.

Wish me luck. Any advise will be appreciated. Xx

Hi and welcome CricketMum :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi CricketMum! No advice to give you yet - just starting out myself. But want to wish you good luck - I have 2.5-3 stone to get rid of so I'm not in a position to give anyone advice!! :)

You can do it, but don't treat it as a diet but as a better way of life for you as a woman, wife and mum, and as a role model to all around you.

Wishing you great success & Cheering you on 🎉🎉🎉

HI I have been on this journey since jan 1st this year andgone from 63kg to 55kg (just under 10st to 8st 9lb). I have tried to loose 1-2lb a week but I have good weeks and bad weeks (usually when I have been away or out for special occassions or nights outs). Some people on the forum using wightwatchers or slimming world, specialist diets (diabetic, 5:2 and loads of others) whilst some (like me) are using the NHS 12 week weight loss plan. Its more about a change of thinking about food, exercise and lifestyle and tp gradually change bad habits. I have reduced my alcohol take and crisps intake (I love crisps!!!)- some people go cold turkey with whatever food is their weak point (chocolate, crisps, cakes, sugar etc), whilst others like me have them in limited way but as part of their calorific allowance.

You will probably have days when you fall off the wagon so to speak and feel bad about this, everyone does this at some stage and will repeat it, but the important thing is to see what caused the problem and decide what you can do differently, but also refocus and try harder.

Good luck

Don't worry wasn't expecting a reply so I wouldn't have taken it personally!!! I admit I cannot go cold turkey either with crisps. Though its easier with crisps since you can buy then singly (is that how you spell it?) whilst if craving are biscuits then you haven't a hope in hell of maintaining moderation with them, unless you wait and them at a cafe where they come in packets of 2?
