Hi and welcome, Jan :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news :)

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate :)

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too :)

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Welcome to the forum,

I would suggest setting small targets that are reachable and perhaps reward yourself once they have been reached. Also get rid of any temptation you might have in the house.

Keep posting on here.

Good Luck with your journey.

Personally I would break that 5 stone into 1 stone or even half stone targets, I have more than that to lose and looking at the bulk figure (as I have in the past) just makes me give up. I started yesterday, so shall watch your progress with interest :). Lean meats and lots of veg is a good starting point

ive set myself a goal of 7lb per month and would like to reach my target of losing 6 stone by the end of 2017.. ive already lost a stone this year so now got 5 stone to lose like you. my advice is to take it slowly and not concentrate on just what the weekly weigh says. Measurements and how you feel are better to go on... give yourself at least 3mths for your body to adjust and commit to your new way of eating... dont think of this as a diet as they 'end' at some point.. ... you have to think of this as a lifestyle change and will be how you are going to eat from now on... Once you get that mindset then you are on your way to a healthy you... i dont calorie count but eat a low carb diet as this easy for me to do.. i also now eat good 'fats'.. full fat milk/cream/butter as they keep me satisfied and i'm never hungry now.

good luck with starting and look forward to seeing your progress x
