Morning Hidden

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Try not to look at all the weight you want to lose break it up into 7lb stages which helps to motivate you along your weight loss journey when you reach each goal.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Hi Christal_sfu

You have come to the right place here and YellowRose55 advice is spot on. I have found this community supportive, informative and it has really helped me lose weight over the past 6 months. I found a book called Overcoming Weight Problems written by a clinical psychologist and dietician very helpful at the start of my journey. What they say is Diets Don't Work but making permanent lifestyle changes do. The book is based on scientific evidence and strategies that are proven to have worked. Keep it simple - Eat Less and Move More which basically means counting and eating the right amount of calories and upping your activity. Lots of people use a pedometer (I use a Fitbit) to count their daily steps - I have personally found it very motivating. I wish you success. Daisy1925

Hi Christal_sfu, Welcome to the forum. I first posted my introduction 5 weeks ago and after following all the posts on here I was finally ready to start my new eating plan last week. I weighed in today and I have lost 5lbs and couldn't be happier. The help and advice here is incredible and I am confident I will lose my 6 stone excess in the next 12 months. I purchased the book Daisy1925 recommends and it has helped me enormously.

Good luck on your journey.

Hi and welcome Hidden

You will get loads of help and support on here :) here's the link to the BMI checker as it let's you know what calorie range you should be eating which is great nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw...

Don't think of this as a diet but a new healthy eating lifestyle which you can maintain on once you have lost the amount of weight you need / want to lose :)

Wishing you all the best on your journey and look forward to seeing you post in the Daily diaries :)
