Back again but not too disheartened.

Well where do I start? This time last year I joined the forum, weighing in at 14st. 1lb. At 5'6" I was obese. By June I had got down to 12st. 6lbs but decided to give the diet a break as my family were visiting from Australia. Unfortunately the diet break last 7 months! What with holidays, summer BBQs, days out, a mammoth decorating job, Christmas and my hubby's 70th birthday last week I was absolutely terrified to get on the scales, expecting all my hard work to be undone. Well some of it was but it wasn't the disaster I thought it would be. Weighed myself this morning and I'm 13st. 1lb. Yes, I've put on 8lbs but I look at it that I'm a stone lighter than I was last year so that has to be a good thing and nothing short of a miracle. I now have a long stretch of no major events until May when I reach the big seven-0 so have no excuses not to knuckle down. Dieting is hard slog when you reach a 'certain' age but well worth the effort, although to be honest I don't regard myself as being on a diet as this is a sure fire way of me giving in to temptation as I think 'sod it - you're nearly 70, enjoy yourself!' I don't count calories, I just eat healthily and reduce portion sizes which works for me, although I appreciate this method isn't for everyone. We must all find what works for us and think of the benefits of losing weight. For me it's health (no arthritis knee pain) and, dare I say, vanity, as even at my ripe old age I still like to nice, even in jeans and a t-shirt. I was determined to post on the forum again today, even if I'd put all the weight back on, as I found it so much help last time, so good luck everyone and here's to a new slimmer us, in time for spring and summer!

Hi Linda_Bee and welcome back.

There have been quite a few changes since you were last here. We have a new admin team. You can check us out on the homepage in the ABOUT section.

We are still running weigh-ins, but they are now daily instead of once weekly. At the moment Monday and Tuesday are full and Friday is almost full. We still have spaces on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday if you would like to join one of those days? Let me know which day you would like and I'll add you to the list if you're interested.

Have a look at the pinned posts sections, there is a Welcome Newbies post which will give you some useful information for navigating your way round the site again.

We also run challenges which are very motivating and fun.

As an incentive we offer weight loss badges and a Newbie one for those people on the first 12 weeks of their journey. If you would like one, let me know.

We would really like to help you this time Linda, so please stick around for the invaluable help and support available here.

Best of luck ☘

Well done for logging back on after a break. I'm sure you can do it again ready for your birthday. Good luck :)

Really enjoy reading your post, you have totally the right attitude towards age, weight loss and lifestyle. I can relate to the back pain, but feel more inspired by your post. I'm kind of new here in this forum, but still, welcome back:)
