Just starting the 12 week plan

As I approach my 65th birthday my biggest regret is not being able to lose the extra weight I'm carrying. After many attempts over the years of dieting with limited success I have settled on the NHS 12 week plan which seems full of good sense.

Here's hoping.....

Hi and welcome nac :)

This will be your lucky time :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a guide to healthy living, rather that a specific diet plan.

Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the monday group weigh-in. If you follow Zest , you'll be notified when she posts the thread. However, the latest thread can always be found in the events section, to the right of the home page.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration :)

Wishing you all the very best :)

I am 61 and having lost almost 3 stones since January when I weighed in at 15st 6lbs ...I would say it is well worth doing! I couldn't get up the stairs without pain in my knees, I was puffing up the hills and scared to get on a horse in case I injured it's back.

Now, I have got down to 12st 10lbs, (still a little way to go), and I can jog up the stairs, walk a hill easily, and most important, can ride twice a week which makes me feel 15 again!

Post on here if you have any problems - we all have the odd day when it all goes wrong, but then we can all have days when we are in control and the lbs will come off. Don't look back, just forwards. You are so worth it!

Well done for starting the plan and joining the forum. Its a sensible lifestyle change so unlike a diet it works! You can do it!

We are never too old to get slimmer and fitter. There are many "seniors" on here , who have successfuly improved their weight and their health ( Ive done it and Im 64)

You have found this site, and the 12 week plan, so you are now on the right road. You can do it !

Thanks for the encouraging replies. It's day 4 today and I'm finding the Myfitnesspal app great for counting calories, have just measured out my usual 'healthy' breakfast and have had a wake up call!

Looking forward to first week's weigh in on Thursday.
