Hi everyone.

I'm 30, married with 3 kids and I have 6 stone to lose to be my healthy weight.

I hate what's happened to my body, and it's all my fault. I have to do something about it, so here I am!

I am starting by calorie counting (will try around 1200 a day), swapping red wine to vodka and soda (drinking weekends only) and will attempt at least some stretching exercising every day! Having an office job doesn't help, but I'm determined!

Good luck to all.... I will be logging on constantly to read through everyone's post and advice x

Hi,

Don't beat yourself up about how you got here. Today is the beginning of taking control so accept what has been and look to the future.

I have an office job too and would advocate walking - just 20 mins a day can make a big difference to how you feel and will tone you up. You can still burn a reasonable amount of calories too.

Good luck :)

Welcome. I would suggest not to go too hardcore straight away as it needs to be sustainable. This week try focusing on your portion size then next week start focusing on upping your exercise and so on. Good luck

Hi and welcome. I would suggest that you calculate, your BMI either using the NHS calculator or the myfitnesspal app and that will tell you how many calories you need to eat. 1200 sounds too few, apparently if you eat too few calories your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto the weight!

My big problem was portion size, I had know, idea what a correct portion was, so I suggest getting your kitchen scales out.

Why not take a look at some of the NHS exercise plans.

Good luck.

Hi, I'm in a similar position to you - married with 3 kids and around 5 stone to lose - starting tomorrow. I am my heaviest ever but at least I'm making a stand now and getting started. Our son is a very fussy eater and it feels as though the rest of us have been dragged down to his level (too many sausages!) so I think he will find the diet changes harder than we will. Going to try to stay strong though as it will be better for him in the long run too. Good luck, pm me if you want a weight loss buddy.
