Last Monday I weighed 13 stone 4.8 pounds, and today I weigh 13 stone 2.2 pounds, so I've lost 2.6 pounds this week. I am very happy!!! I also did my measurements on 10th June, and they were 39 inch chest; 32 inch waist and 40.5 inch hips - that was 1 inch off my bust and half an inch off my hips, no change to my waist (I do my measurements monthly).
This week I'd like to lose some more weight, and get closer to the 12's - my goal is to get into the 12's by the end of this month. I have 9.2 pounds to lose to get to my ultimate goal of 12 stone 7 pounds. This last stone of weight is difficult to shift, but I am getting there slowly!
My goals for this week are to continue with healthy eating, and do as much exercise as I can (walking and core conditioning exercises).
Please join us for this Monday weigh-in, and share your experiences of how your week has been - here's to a good week ahead!

Congratulations to you for your weight loss this week, going from 98.2 kilos to 97.9 kilos is really great! Glad to hear you're feeling full of energy and optimism, as I'm sure that will bring you another great week ahead.
Fab, you've had a great week, pounds and inches no wonder you're so happy that's a good way to begin the week especially on such a grim Monday morning.
I've managed to lose 1lb this week, my weight loss has slowed right down, I was hoping to lose a few more ounces this week to take me down into the 10's, it's really frustrating to be so close yet still can't quite get there. I'm just starting week 12 but I've decided to revisit week 1 to make sure I'm not missing something, I'm going to check portion size, salt etc. The week ahead will be very testing as I've got a lot going on, I'm up to London today to meet a group of people I used to work with, we're meeting in the pub so you get an idea of the type of day it's going to be!
Many thanks for your supportive words - I am so happy to have lost pounds and inches. Makes a change to lose both.
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week, that's really great. I know you would like to be into the 10's, but you'll get there very soon (all being well), and sometimes weight loss slows down and even plateaus, so don't be disheartened, you really are making excellent progress to lose 1 pound.
I know you've got a busy week ahead, and I hope you have a lovely day meeting your ex-colleauges in London - I can imagine that will be a challenging day as you're meeting in the pub, but hopefully you can pace things and make choices that you feel happy with.
Dear Low Cal, after last week it just had to be good news. Well done and so close now that you can reach out and touch it. Hope you have another great week.
Last week I weighed 13st 8.4lbs and this week 13st 7.4lbs so lost one pound. Slightly disappointing as had a really good week and been to the gym three times but some weeks are just like that! I am now the lowest weight that I have been during this "new me" makeover!
My next goal is to work off those last three pounds to make the 5 stone lost mark. Might not make it next week but for definite the week after. Wow that just sounds so amazing!
Many thanks for your supportive words. They are much appreciated!
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week - that's really good! I know you wanted to lose a bit more, as you've had a particularly busy week with all those gym sessions, but I suspect you'll see that loss contributing to next week's weigh-in, so hopefully you'll see it next week. The fact is you're now at the lowest weight you've been during your 'new you' makeover - and that is something to be celebrated!!!
Wow, you're getting close to the 5 stone mark (total weight loss), and like you say, you're likely to get there in the next fortnight. Good luck! You sound positive and motivated, and that always helps.
Thanks so much! I am excited - it's rare for me to lose that much in a week.
Congratulations for losing 0.5 pounds this week - that is really good and in the right direction. Well done for coping with your busy week. Sometimes there isn't as much time for exercising, but hopefully you'll be able to do more (if you want to) this week.
no weigh - in- as away in scotland. The land of deep fried everything( I can say that I am half Scottish) - feeling a bit two ton tessie- so dreading the weigh -in when I get back!!. Will have 4 days to lose the inevitable gain :-).
So we are visiting OHs childhood haunts- done cycling in cumbrae. Yesterday I did five hour yomp up and down Ben arther( the cobbler) - staying on delightful loch lomand. Off to have loch fyne oysters today (v low fat and healthy).
Fingers crossed fleetwood mac will play at Glasgow . Then back home to Devon - for the weigh- in
Really glad you joined us today, especially as you're away in Scotland. I know you're not looking forward to weighing in when you get back, but at least you have 4 days to make some in-roads to losing any gain you might have made. The important thing is enjoying your holiday.
You are doing plenty of active things - the cycling and hiking up and down The Cobbler - Loch Lomond must be beautiful. Enjoy those Loch Fyne Oysters today - definitely low fat and healthy.
Wow, exciting to go to see Fleetwood Mac - I love their music. Hope they play at Glasgow and you have a great time.
Welcome to you, and thanks for joining us for this Monday weigh-in. Great to hear you're starting the 12 week plan today, and you've done the first step of weighing in - you've got your goal (sounds doable to me), and you sound motivated at the start, which should help you through! The support of this forum is great - certainly helps me to keep motivated, as the people here are amazing - very supportive and friendly, and we all have similar goals in sight, which means we share our experiences and help one another have a positive weight loss journey.
Good luck with your first week, and hope to see you at future weigh-ins.
Sadly no weight loss again. I averaged 1500calories per day last week, so I guess that's my answer. it really is socialising and drinking wine that leads me astray. I only drink a couple of nights a week usually, but this week saw a night out with friends too.
But on the plus side I have exercised everyday and not put any on.....
Next week, we are off to Spain for a week, so expecting a 4lb increase, and then back on the diet when I get back. Going to try and eat healthy, with lots of fish and keep up the walking when away to limit the damage!
Well done for maintaining your weight this week. I know you wanted a loss on the scales, but the fact is you didn't gain any weight, and you stayed the same, and hopefully you'll see a loss very soon. Like you say, the positives of your week are that you exercised daily and you didn't put any weight on. You also enjoyed an evening out with friends and didn't put any weight on. That's good!
Calories are interesting, I find that I can't exist on lower calorie numbers - I do count my calories, and this week I averaged 2,392 per day this week, and my net calories were 1,252 per day (I did a fair amount of exercise this week). I allow myself more calories because I'm tall (6 feet 1 inch) and I just don't feel very good if I restrict them too much.
Hope you have a wonderful time in Spain next week - your plans to eat lots of fish and keep up your walking should ensure you stay healthy during your holidays! Damage limitation is always good!
Well I checked my fitness pal and my net calories are 1297 for the week, which for a 5ft 2 shorty just over the bmi of 25, is probably OK for a slow weightless. I get too hungry with the 5:2 diet or less calories. I then eat too much!
And the good news is, a day later and I've dropped 2lbs. My scales only ever move in 2lb chunks, need new ones I think.....Hopefully this'll stay off until I go on holiday at least......
Congratulations to you too - you are getting very close to your target - just 3 kg to go now - hope you cope ok with all those Birthday celebrations that are coming up this week.
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
p.s. I just edited this response, because I realised I had become confused between yourself and Target12stone, who I had also just responded to. So apologies if you were confused by my original response - if you saw it!
Hi lowcal, it's great to see so many people losing this week, and well done on your loss. I am back from two weeks in Pembrokeshire with a 3lb gain, but this is not a surprise as most lunchtimes involved sandwiches or paninis, cake for pudding and then dairy ice cream for afternoon snack! I managed to stay below 11st which was my aim (just, as I am currently 10st13) mainly due to the fact we did loads of walking and I still went running. I am now 6lbs heavier than I was when I got to my goal, so plan to reduce my calories back down to 1400 for the next few weeks to get back to 10 and a half stone. I am also planning on playing netball and doing my normal three runs this week so hope to see a loss next week.
Yes, lots of people are losing this week, it's really great!
Welcome back to you from your break in Pembrokeshire - a 3 pound gain is hardly anything for a holiday, and I'm sure you'll soon get that off again. Brilliant that you managed to stay below 11 stone, and achieved your target - hope you enjoyed all that walking and your running too.
Great to hear you're planning to play Netball as well - you're doing lots of exercise and I hope you enjoy some Netball games - very sociable to play a team sport.
Good luck with your goal to get back to 10 and a half stone in the next few weeks, I'm sure you'll do it!
Wishing you a great week ahead.
Lowcal
Hello there
Well done Lowcal and Candystripe. You are both an inspiration for your long term commitment. Excited to anticipate you each reaching your big goals of sub-13 st and losing 5 st respectively. Well done too Gonti, Vickster, Jenever. I'm pleased we have so much to celebrate as a group!
I'm down 2 lbs to 13 st 2lb. Less deserved this week so I think it's really the previous week's efforts. I think the vigorous exercise in the week before had a delayed effect. But Norwegian food is so expensive, it's difficult to really binge over there! Excellent healthy breakfasts with lots of raw veggies in the hotel and fish. I went for a short swim and a couple of long walks so that might have helped.
Always good to read everyone's reports. Enjoy the next week of exercise, fruit and veg people!
Thanks for your very kind words - they are much appreciated!
Congratulations to you on losing 2 pounds - that is really brilliant! Glad you survived your trip to Norway, and drinking that delicious Norwegian 'yoghurt' (which we now know was sour cream) - your post about that really made me laugh - you were enjoying it so much.
The Norwegian breakfasts sound really healthy with those raw veggies and fish, and I hope you enjoyed your swim and those long walks.
I honestly would have put myself in the category of "Will try but can't do it"! BUT as you start losing the pounds, feeling good and looking good, it's all the motivation you need (as well as the great friends we have here on the site encouraging and supporting you). You also have to really want it for yourself. As I write this, I am wearing the reason why I wanted to lose weight!!!
There are always brick walls and hurdles on the path that you take, but you have to face them and deal with them. They might deviate you but you have to find the route back !
I over celebrated becoming a grandma last week! Scales show a 2 lb gain, but, my waist and hips are both an inch smaller.
Had a wardrobe clear out and got rid of a whole big suitcase of clothes that are already too big, aiming to get into smaller jeans next week, I hope.
Lost motivation and realised how I got so fat in the first place, it's so easy to slide isn't it? It was a bit scary how close I got to not bothering anymore, but I need to be healthy for my family's sake.
You are inspiring me and well done you are doing great.
Firstly, Congratulations on becoming a Grandma last week! That is really great! I can understand that you definitely needed to celebrate that. 2 pound gain isn't too bad in the circumstances, and it's great to hear your waist and hips are both an inch smaller - it shows that relying on measurements as well as scales can really help.
I bet you feel better for that wardrobe clear-out - and I hope you'll get into those smaller jeans next week, all being well.
I'm really glad you got over the slight dip in motivation, and that you are continuing to work on becoming healthier - your family (and your new grand-child) will definitely appreciate having you feeling happier and healthier. There are bound to be some days when none of us 'feel like it' - but keep going, and you will get through them.
Hi Lowcal, so pleased to hear you lost 2.6lb, that's really impressive. Sounds like you've really been exercising a lot. This week I have lost 1lb, down to 11st9. I'm pleased with this, as I know I wasn't as tight on calories this week and only did two exercise sessions. I hope that by upping the exercise and trying to really watch the cals that I can make 11st7 next week. I have been measuring my waist weekly and it's been going down fast. I think this is the bloating going that I've had for ages, and as I mentioned last week I've got back into my size 14 jeans again. Down to 29.5 inches which I'm so pleased with hope everyone has a great week, and lots of luck for more weight loss Lowcal!
Thanks very much, I am very happy today! I have been exercising quite a lot, and hope to continue this week if I can keep it up.
Congratulations to you on losing 1 pound, that is really great. It's great that your waist measurement is going down as well - and I hope you're enjoying wearing your size 14 jeans again.
Wishing you another great week ahead!
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal,
Congrats on this weeks wgt loss, slow and steady wins the race and you will reach your goal.
I have had bit wobble last few days but have not lost sight of my goal.
Thanks very much - I agree that slow and steady is good.
Sorry to hear you've had a bit of a wobble over the last few days, but it's good that you've not lost sight of your goal, and hopefully you will feel better as the week goes on, and you'll be getting closer to achieving that goal. Think about the things that help you, and see if you can try any of those things to move forward. I find that pre-planning can help.
Everyone is different, and hopefully you will find things that work for you and gain in your confidence - so you wobble less in the future, and keep on track towards achieving your goals.
A very warm welcome to you and thank your for joining us for this Monday weigh-in.
Congratulations for losing 3 pounds this week, and for losing a total of 8 stone and 1 pound in total. That is amazing!!! Really well done! You are well on your way towards your realistic goal weight and your ideal goal weights.
Thanks so much for your support - very much appreciated. Yes, it does feel tough sometimes, as I have been getting closer to the 12's for a relatively long time now, and then something usually happens to make me gain weight (like my chest infection in February), but my BMI is 24.3 at the moment, so it's in the top end of the normal range, and I do sometimes wonder whether maybe that's my personal 'setting point' - as my body seems to gravitate to that weight. But I still hope to get it down to 12 stone 7 pounds, as I think that would give me more 'lea-way' to maintain my weight, so I'm definitely going to keep going!
I will look out for your Friday weigh-in, and I wish you a really good week ahead.
Congratulations to you for losing 1 pound this week. You're getting those pounds off and getting closer to 10 stone.
It can definitely be hard sometimes to keep going, but hopefully you'll find that you enjoy it more as time goes on, and as you reap the benefits of your progress, feeling healthier.
Hey everyone, the scales have gone down shock horror.
I lost 2.5lbs this week but feeling a bit wary since my fat % is still around 46-47%.
I am not sure if the 2.5lbs is water so will see next week if the scales go back up or keep going down.
My week was ok food wise, I have been experimenting in the kitchen with paleo recipes. So far I tried banana bread (epic fail) and carrot cake (nice but too wet), this weekend I want to try chocolate zucchini cake, wish me luck
Congratulations on losing 2.5 pounds this week, that is really great! Glad to hear you had a good week food wise, and that you've been trying out some new recipes. Sorry to hear the Banana bread wasn't as you'd hoped - I wonder why that was… do you have any ideas? Have you tried the Banana Bran Fruit cake which is on the NHS website pages? I find that one works well.
Good luck with the chocolate zucchini cake - it sounds tasty!
Great to hear you had a good weight loss this week Lowcal, to compensate for the slight frustration you had last week!
I've had a good week too – shifted another 3lbs, and am now down to 14st 8 (down from my peak weight of 15st 11 before I started the NHS plan). It was only last week that I was feeling good about breaking through the 15st barrier, so it feels extra good to be nudging towards 14 and a half already!
It really is happening too, because my size 20 jeans (which I had previously shoved away in the drawer because they were too tight) are now getting decidedly saggy. Soon I will have to see if I still have any size 18s buried at the back of the cupboard. Sometimes there's an advantage in being the kind of person who never throws anything away...
I'm so glad to hear you've had a good week too - Congratulations on losing 3 pound this week, that is brilliant! Breaking through the 15 stone barrier last week ,and getting really close to 14 stone 7 pounds this week, you'll be nudging your way below it very soon!
Like you say, you'll be looking for those size 18's in no time, and thank goodness you don't throw things away, as they are coming in useful.
Lovely to hear all these success stories as it is very motivating. Having done really well for the first 2 weeks something went wrong for me last week and I just seemed to lose it altogether, stopped counting calories and started eating all the wrong stuff. I therefore haven't lost anything this week and have only lost a couple of pounds since starting. I've had a really stressful time at work which I think accounts for the 'comfort eating' and have just finished off a packet of wine gums (didn't even enjoy them).
I've also been wondering whether the low carb high fat diet is the way forward and so have become a bit distracted from the NHS plan. Its difficult with all the conflicting advice to decide exactly what the best way forward is.
Well done on your weight and inch loss this week Lowcal and good luck for next week.
Thanks for your encouraging words, and I'm so sorry to hear that you've had a tough week last week - having a really stressful time at work would definitely contribute to potentially scuppering things for you - because stress affects our hormones with all that cortisol rushing through the body. I hope things get better at your work, and that this week will be a better one for you.
There are various plans around which offer different ways to tackle weight loss, and I agree with you that it can be quite over-whelming if you pay attention to them all, and end up not knowing what to do for the best.
Whatever you decide to do this week, I hope it works for you, and that you have a better week - don't give up, that's the main thing!
Thanks, Lowcal, for your kind words :). On reflection, I think its probably best to stick to one plan at least for several weeks as it gets too confusing to keep changing. Its also really time consuming researching different plans with their conflicting claims.
Well done on your achievement this week, that's a good loss.
I've enjoyed reading all the posts, it seems like quite a few of us are doing well and those of us that haven't managed a loss this week appear to know why, which I think makes all the difference for getting back on track.
Last week I was 11st5 and this week I am 11st3. I'm now 9lbs away from the top end of my average weight but like you Lowcal I'm looking to lose more so it's easier for me to stay within my average weight range.
I won't be posting for a few weeks folks as I'm off to Spain for a few weeks - I'll post the damage on my return!
Congratulations to you for losing 2 pounds this week - and you're getting closer to being at the top end of your ideal weight.
Great to hear you're off on holiday to Spain for a few weeks, so have a wonderful time! Will look forward to catching up with you when you get back. Hopefully not too much 'damage' - and if you do have any gains, that they will come off quickly and easily. But hopefully you'll not gain much at all.
Hi Lowcal I am so pleased for you losing 2.6 pounds this week is a great achievement , in fact I am over the moon for you and you are get that much closer to reaching the 12's which is a great motivator. Really well done hun x Happy dayz and well worth celebrating
Thank you so much - I really appreciate your very supportive words. I am feeling motivated by how last week went, and I really hope I can continue the momentum into this week and beyond - to hopefully finally achieve my ideal weight.
I'll look out for your weigh-in later in the week, and in the meantime wish you a great week.
Please do continue... I am almost there myself as you know so I to have to continue the momentum this week and beyond like you and I am excited. It's at this point when nearing a mile stone that I really need to push myself to get that bit closer to it. I am however in Blackpool Fri - Sun with my mum so will miss my weigh in Sat as the hotel does not have a scale as far as I know so not sure if I should miss a week, they do however have a swimming pool so I can still get a good work out in swimming Lowcal I really hope you have a great week x
Have a lovely time in Blackpool with your Mum, I hope you both enjoy it. I'd be surprised if the Hotel doesn't have a scale - it would be worth asking them, as I would imagine they do get asked that question sometimes. Sometimes they put scales near swimming pool or gym areas, for those keen people who want to weigh themselves (like us!).
Yes, we should definitely keep going, and hope the momentum continues, and we can achieve our goals.
Well this is me just starting my first week so cant say what I have lost or not lost.... my weight this morning was 13.12.6. I am hoping to loose at least 1lb a week. I know its summer but made a nice pot of veg soup last nite to take to work and making lentil soup for tomorrow. I am one of these people who need someone to keep me on the straight and narrow so feel free everyone to tell me all the time it will be all worth it.
Great to see you! Really glad you joined us - quite a few of us today, and very encouraging posts.
I think you've set yourself a great goal of losing a pound a week, and your homemade soups will stand you in good stead - I love making soups too, and often freeze some batches. Lentil soup sounds really good.
Thanks for your kind words regarding my week.
I hope that you have a great week yourself - and look forward to seeing you at future weigh-ins and posts within the forum.
Hi lowcal, well done on your loss. You really are getting close now!
I've been on holiday the past fortnight so am very pleased to have lost 1lb in that time as although my exercise levels have been very high my eating has not been the best.
Unfortunately the weather in Scotland seems unaware that it is summer which is makings difficult to be as active as I'd like. However, I'm going to persevere and am hoping to lose at least another pound this week.
Wow, that's so great that you've lost 1 pound this week, despite being away on holiday for the past fortnight - how did you do that????!!! I hope you enjoyed your holiday.
I hope the weather is Scotland will improve so you can enjoy more outdoor activities - great that you're going to persevere nevertheless, that's a good spirit to have.
Good luck with your goal for this week, and wishing you a great week ahead.
Well done Lowcal! Sorry to be late to the weigh in party again! I've spent the week being pretty good and recording on Myfitnesspal and the news is.........a 2lb loss. In 11.12. Would be so thrilled to continue to lose at this rate for next 7 weeks as my Adriatic Yacht is just over the horizon now.
Brilliant to hear you've had a 2 pound loss this week, that's really great! Well done for your diligence in keeping to your goals, and many Congratulations for being in the 11's now!!!! That is exciting!!!
Your Adriatic Yacht experience is not too far away, but having 7 weeks before you go is definitely a good amount of time to achieve your goals.
Thank you Lowcal! My issue is weekend. I don't drink but it's so hard to keep to a plan, especially this time of year when there's barbecues etc. still no pain no gain (or loss) I guess!
