I have had m.s for 17 years and had my ups and downs but I am normally mobile with 1 stick , after having a recent uti I have been feeling really rough , I have just had a colonoscopy a few days ago and I am not sure if I’m having a flare , a relapse or wether the colonoscopy has impacted the antibiotics and regular medication because of the flush out , I seem to have been floored lately and gone downhill fast , can anybody advise me on this moving forward? Thanks in advance, gary

relapse infection or colonoscopy??

Jump to repliesI can't speak for the colonoscopy in particular, but I think that any invasive procedure has the possibility of causing relapses. At least, that's what my surgeon told me before I had my gall bladder out.
Do you have an MS nurse that you could call for advice? Over here, I'd just contact my neuro and get an MRI to verify things, but I know things are a bit different for you.
I'm sorry you're feeling so awful all of a sudden. A quick test to make sure the UTI is gone might help? If you're still on antibiotics, was a culture done to make sure that you are on the right antibiotic? Keep drinking a lot of water and contact your doctor's office as soon as you can. I suppose there are other possibilities, as well. Please let us know what happens. Best wishes for a quick recovery! 😊
If your symptoms last longer than 24 hrs, it may be a flair. It never hurts to call the neurologist's office and ask. Sorry your feeling badly.
Cleaning out my inbox & found this. How are you feeling now? Better, I hope.
Those colonoscopies are not fun, but so important. Here's a funny clip by Jeff Foxworthy on colonoscopies that my sister sent me just yesterday.

Grace & peace to you!

I've have several surgeries since being diagnosed with MS - 2 hip replacements, a plate on a broken wrist.
The neurologist explained to me that ms will not interfere with the surgery but bouncing back from the surgery will take longer than w/o ms. After these surgeries, I spent a couple of days in bed feeling like I only wanted to sleep and do nothing.
Colonoscopy is not surgery but still a invasive procedure on your body. I hope for you that it's only a slow bounce back.
But it does not hurt to contact your doctor. You have to be your own advocate!
