My hub's thinking of getting one for the porch and one for living room to speed home to pick me up off the floor in case I pull another falling stunt. Chivalry is not dead
I don't know how long I can resist the urge to mess with him though...throwing myself on the floor when I get lonely, doing the Irish jig like I never had MS, stuff like that.😂
I was told by my sis in law that she speaks to her mom through her camera so it might be a deterrent for me.
He will get me back😅😅

We have a Wyze doorbell camera, but it isn't that smart. There is quite a time lag between when I can see who is at the door and actually talk to them. And, of course, I have to know where my phone is--which can be harder than it seems on some days! 😜
We had to turn off the notifications because it sends an alert anytime a leaf moves on the tree that's by the street. Yet it also has the random ability to not record people. For example, the mail carrier walks across the lawn and up the steps to the porch every day. They have to stand right in front of the doorbell to put the mail in the box. They cross in front of the camera at least twice. There are days when there is nothing on the video. Of course, it's possible that our mail carrier and their clothing are completely invisible, right? 😂
Pair of glasses floating about a suit of men's clothing to portray an invisible man.
I have Ring but not the subscription for the outside of the home and Blink for the inside of the home. I see who is in the driveway or at the front door. I see what the fur babies are up to on the other side of the house without getting up to see. They get curious about who is talking and from where when I ‘scold’ them from the device. No one can talk through those devices unless they have permission from you. Neither of these devices require a subscription for them to work unless you want a record of all that these devices see. There’s so many of these devices available so choose wisely, falalalala
I agree, falalalala , as I have better things to watch, for example, the grass grow in my backyard! P.S. I live in Arizona, where most green grass is Astro Turf! 😂
We have a Ring. I don’t have the subscription anymore because it just stressed me out every time there was “motion at the door.” Lol! It worked fine, but may just be me 🤷♀️
I do see where it can be useful though. My coworker had to suddenly leave work the other day because a car hoped the curb and hit his mom’s house. Yikes! All was ok, but Ring sent notifications straight to his phone and he was able to get out there right away.
We've got one at the front door, and I think it's brilliant 😁 sure, we've had to set parameters on when and where the doorbell sends us notifications, but it's really helpful. You'll have to have it where the camera's always on when your husband is at work, because you don't want him to keep getting notifications of you moving around.
There's something called an Embrace Alert watch too. It senses if your arm is shaking like you're having a seizure, and will call your husband. On the call, it says, "(your name) needs your help. Press one to confirm you have received this message." You're able to cancel any false alerts by cancelling an alert on your phone or by pressing the button on the watch. That button can also give you the time to within 5 mins.
yes, I have an entire system with the “eyeball camera “ like the stores use on my porch and backyard. I can see when deliveries are left and if you’re away from home it really helps; you see what’s going on with your home. Most importantly, you can ignore those pesky solicitors who like to annoy people.
As I hijack Falalalala's post, do they make any of these cameras that don't require a smartphone? Maybe something that just records on a computer and can alert you there? I just have no understanding of modern technology.
We use blink cameras by Amazon. Mostly, we use them as a doorbell for the dog. We get the motion alerts and know/can see when he's at the door and ready to come in if we are across the house.
We pay $30 per year to Amazon for storage for the doorbell clips. We have 2 other outdoor cameras and 1 indoor camera set up to save the video clips to a USB drive so we don't have to pay extra $ for subscription fees. We do have an Echo Show (Amazon Alexa device) that will also display the cameras when we tell it to. We only use the indoor camera when we leave the dog at home for the day so we can see if he starts getting antsy and moving around the house. Otherwise, the indoor camera is disabled.
Overall, it works pretty well for us. After a few years, we got tired of changing batteries and have added a solar panel for one outdoor camera and bought a cord/plug in for another one. They don't work if the power is out or internet goes down, so that is a downside. Since we use them for convenience/monitoring instead of security, it's survivable if they are down for a few hours.
Funny you should ask. I just set up a Bling camera for my apartment. It’s just an indoor camera that allows me to see my porch and outside yard. It’s set to alert me if anyone is in my area. Only $29 on (where else?)Amazon. It only takes about 8 minutes to get connected to your phone and everything. The picture is amazingly clear and I can snap a photo or a video. I’m impressed.
i have a Ring at front door with a subscription and it’s great. It only makes a sound when someone is there and it only records when someone is there. Can talk with someone who is there if you press a button on the phone while they’re there. Myhusband wired it to the electrical sysrem in thehouse so i don’t need tocharge it. Good luck with your choice
Hi falalalala love the ring camera...but i think there a a few looking at price. Blink was one also..ring doorbell was the easiest. maybe go BOO on halloween..truely it has helped save from burgulars and boxes taken...my neighbors ring recorded a family dispute and busted 10 adults, shutting down a drug house.@
My best friend has one and she loves ìt. We have security cameras at our lake house and and a commercial Property we own. We do not have any type of cameras ĥòŵever At our main home. However, we do have a security gate. So I guess my husband feels. That's enough protection. Some type of security camera is certainly the way to go in the day and the time we live in. the big security cameras that cover your porch's doors and around your home are not very expensive today and they can be pulled up on your cell phone. At any time to check out activity around for property. Fancy 59.
I don't have a Ring doorbell, but both my sons have them at their houses, & they LOVE them. We leave a Wyze camera on our senior dog when we are not home. (medical appointments, church, etc).
