No get out of jail free card!

My neurologist, told me during one visit early on to " remember that just because a person has a chronic disease, does not give them a get out of jail free card for other illness". That quote has come back to haunt me several times since,the heart attack, kidney stones, and most recently bad news blood tests meaning more tests and maybe other problems, not a get out of jail free card indeed

But then again.. what if you have more than 1 chronic disease? Now if you want to compare notes.. haha.. As jimeka said.. "we are given the strength to cope with what we are dealt. " and cope we must.. for the good or the bad.. "feel sorry for me" or "uplift people, so they too can go forward".. I have chosen the latter.. You can't dwell in the "why me".. Try for the "I will help anyone that asks me for help, a caring knowledgeable ear for their disease.. that I have experienced". Here is my list: Hoshimoto's Thyroid, Diabetes, MS, Degenerative Disk Disease, Triple Bi-Pass and many more.. so I must go forward and do the latter for the rest of my life. I agree.. not a "get out of Jail card indeed!!

sometimes I wonder which came first -MS or all the other comorbidities? Did MS contribute to the onset of all our other health issues (yes, I have a long list of diagnoses also) or did all our health issues contribute to MS? There is no way the scientists will ever know.

for me it was ms, up until that nothing significant since polio as an infant. Then 49 diagnosis of ms and the body just seemed to fall apart from there. Thanks for feedback

Yup, same here. So I'll remind everyone 5O+, though you can get it at any age, says the CDC, to get a Shringex vaccination, twice, 2 to 6 months apart, and a pneumovax too, your doctors will know which is best for you. I had yucky side effects this week after my 2nd shingles vax, but it was worth it. Know too many people who had the shingles and were healthy yet in so much pain for so long to risk getting them.

yes used to do distance riding regularly but just now trying to build stamina back up so I can take part in MS Society 150 again this year after the heart attack

I got the Big "C" announcement by my G.P. years ago. from the one thing I've been tracking for years, my PSA, as every male in my family died from/with it. I did immediate research, and changed my diet drastically to account for this, given 6 months till surgery, and have reduced my PSA to decades ago levels. I've been holding these for at least a half decade. I still avoid the same list of things not to eat, soy, peanuts, cashews......,many very common. I still drink my small juice glass of pomogranite juice every day, even though I can't spell it correctly, and doc says my prostate is bigger, but normal, smooth. No worries yet. So is it the benign enlarged prostate, or M.S. that created my GPS bladder? No matter, I live with it, and am appreciative that I have the GPS capabilities, even without an app on my phone! Even in areas without cell reception!

A bladder that somehow always knows the closest spot to pee, anywhere, anytime. I heard it comes no extra charge with a subscription to M.S. But unfortunately, once subscribed, you can never unsubscibe!
