Do any of u have MS business type cards?
Hi Midgey_Midge06 How are you? rjoneslaw wrote a post about such cards. Do a search on the HealthUnlocked forum by putting ‘ms card’ in the search box.
Awesome! Thank u so much! 😘
I found this in online search. I've never heard of the organization, but it might be worth looking into. It says it's free for US & Canada.

I've had one for decades, got it from my m.s. neuro, been buried in my wallet. Never once used it. May still be there? BUT, my wallet....a dark hole with lots of cobwebs if I try digging in that far. Never been stopped. If I did, I figure the cane, which still sits in the car, even though I stopped using it after having to for some 5 - 6 years for balance, might be as good, along with a I'm on disability for M.S., which I've had "forever" might work as well? But again, the multi- million mile driver I used to be, running sales for decades,... Never stopped once, EXCEPT outside Las Vegas NV, in the town to the east, where I learned of the scamming cops waiting outside the fancy hotels.....picking on out of staters. Seems like everyone there knew that and accepted it. They all had their own story of the crooked cops there. Never drive a rental or your car with out of state plates in H Nevada. When they ask for your travel papers instead of your license....you will know it to be true! SORRY, but a sore spot. My driving record was flawless. The stop sign I stopped twice at, and creeping past the police car with It's lights on, writing someone else a ticket...,yeah failure to stop at a stop sign....my XXX!
IF you're not to the cane or walker stage yet, I walked into the sides of buildings while still working, like a drunk on skid row, with my daytimer and phone in hand in the city, never got stopped for erratic walking! Just Don't joke if you are, "Ossifer, I'm okay, really..." Just wear your t-shirt "I'm Not Drunk, It's just M.S. No bar tabs necessary" Never wore it either. Hey, It's summer again, maybe this year? Nah, doing better. BUT, if I were to ever go back to Henderson NV? I'd wear that and only drive in state rental car plates only! Out of staters get a court date after your travel plans state you have left the state, AND on a Sunday, when court is never on session!?!?
Lol! I lived in Reno, NV - we were always in competition with those Southern Nevadans - the cops never stopped outta towners. If u were a tourist u got a free pass cuz u paid the bills by going to the casinos. 😁
Huh? All it took was an answer to how's your day going like "Great, except for the traffic ticket this morning when I definitely wasn't in the wrong" Everyone had story after story, after story to tell. After a half dozen of those, I learned to keep my mouth shut in that town! Okay, I'm a slow learner? Half dozen? The bank teller, the grocery checkout, and the grocery checkout's co-workers, the hotel desk person, and their co-workers....on and on. Really, there's something wrong. Travel papers? Where are you flying out of and when???? Sorry, that was a town I had really thought of moving to, because it was close to that wonderful, large lake in the desert, surrounded by lots of nothingness. & I love to fish!
My heart was broken. Even the clerk who I paid the ticket to, .... hmmm, another Sunday Court Date? Well you have to wait till get the rescheduled date in the mail. Yes it will go to your home. Then you can reschedule if you need to. ????
And even the realtor with whom we met with, couldn't come up with anything to say to try and change my mind, knowing she was now going to loose a client. Only one person I met said, yeah, it happened to me over and over till I got my Nevada plates. From then on, nothing. Now, my many years dream has been shattered. And still looking for a place to call home, with DRY heat, and a good fishing lake or river I can boat on. Sorry, loved the Colorado streams, but fly fishing, I'm not into. It is the greenest desert! There in a heat wave. Residents dying. We midwesterners loved it! Kind of like Phoenix now! Nah, 115°F in AZ, that's perfect!
Reno has everything! Southern & Northern Nevada r nothing alike. Reno has the Truckee River or u can go to Tahoe.... the winter is the only bad part but summer is the best. Dry heat at high altitude. I miss it so much
We did an Arizona trip a few years back, and Las Vegas was almost a short side trip, but really had my eyes on Henderson because of Lake Mead, and getting to it from Arizona was not that easy. Maybe need to do another Nevada trip? Does it glow at night out west of Vegas? Nuclear? Just kidding.
Ya no doubt huh? 🤣🤣 not sure as i am a northern nevadan. We have a big rivalry with vegas so ya know.... cant comment on that. Have u looked at maybe Pahrump? They seem more small town type friendly there
I've lived in Chicagoland, El Paso, Evansville IN, Champain IL...big cities, & small towns....Can do either....BUT I'm lured to Gorgeous Great FISHING WATERS. If there was a desert by the ocean....I'd be there. No, Brownsville TX is not for me. Been there. A nice visit, but couldn't live there. Loved Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico when I lived in El Paso, but that was a 2 hour drive to nowhere, from the nearest anywhere. And 2 hours used to be nothing. Kind of like to be closer. As I get older, the 3-1/2 hour drives I did in my sleep for 25 years, every other weekend, if for nothing other than to work looking at the lake, are now tough. I can do winters. I say that mid summer, but really, other than it interrupts my ability to fish....my ice fishing gear hasn't seen the ice in decades? Anyone know of my next potential heaven to retire to?
I also need good fruits and veggies. You would think with all the produce grown here and there, these would be great places. But so many places I've been to in so many states, really, really lack what I can get here in Chicagoland nowhere near where any of it is grown. It comes from all over the world, and cheaper than from where it is grown? And...Speaking to the owners of the produce/grocery stire chains here, they say it doesn't exist anywhere else in the U.S.? And that they cannot expand to other areas as they have tried, but according to them, people elsewhere simply don't care enough??? There they all failed. Here they thrive!?!? I'm not a produce market/grocer, so it's hard to understand, but my daughter in Florida, says she can't get good produce, and what she can get, is expensive.
MarkUpnorth, I just laughed when I read your post! I was raised by Californians and lived there until I was 18. My dad, a gold mining engineer, used to take us to Nevada but we always took "back roads" which I really had a hard time identifying as roads. Back roads I now identify rather easily in the West when out in "the country". He did it because, in his laconic way, "Los Vegas is bad for you kids." Indeed.
I, on the other hand, have found protection in numbers. When I was young I used to drive with the dogs, the cats and usually one bird and the kids in the car. The trunk was stuffed with suitcases and the floor board was level with the seats with "stuff for the trip". My god, but you couldn't hear your self think for the chatter, arguments, laughter, singing and questions of "why" from that group.
At one point or another no cat or dog would want to go further...and the kids were not much better. We camped at the nearest KOA we could find. Then off we'd go the next day.
I hadn't thought about those days for a long time. Thank you...as she sits typing with a smile spread across her face!
Your dad was a gold mining engineer! When I graduated college as a mechanical engineer, I did 3 interviews and picked one as my first job, that eventually had me running away from small town Indiana having completed a management program with the company, starting in Marketing? Really?...I used that later in life....but another story. Then application engineering , then begging to get into manufacturing enginnering in the company's biggest and badest plant in Juarez Mexico. It was an easy in, as everyone from the small town Indiana company thought going there was a fate worst than death! We loved it there. Loved the southwest, so great compared to the midwest.... sorry, got off track.
Had 2 other interviews, one was working for a company that built smart bombs for the navy. Yeah, couldn't see myself as a high tech bomb maker. The other was as a mining engineer in south central Illinois. Fascinating, but for coal, not gold! At that time, coal was still as good as gold. The many many tunnels underground were all whitewashed white with lots of lighting, and we drove everywhere like downtown, underground! Even the points of mining were controlled by manipulating air pressures to keep it dust free, something I learned well later in life running an asbestos abatement company, being talked into doing such daring and crazy things like doing abatement in working surgery wards of hospitals, while surgeries continued just beyond our barriers, controlled by manipulating air pressures....all while lab tech's monitored the air everywhere looking for microscopic dust, of any type. Talk about a high stress job! We did that type of impossible work flawlessly, over and over again, but...a single bad test and I'd have been the one in the hospital being worked on. Not our idea, but there was no way to shut down major hospital surgery wards for the needed work....praised by the hospital, the EPA, monitoring labs, everone involved....BUT, the stress of having to make the impossible happen flawlessly, with the whole world watching and recording every move... That was only one of many, many equally stressful type jobs we did for years. Never a hiccup,...but no wonder M.S.? That or a heart attack! Air traffic controllers, your job is tough, but nothing like this!
Back on track,....the mines....I wasn't ready to spend my life underground yet. Yes there were offices right above ground, AND LAKES above ground on coal mine property!, but they were still wasteland lakes, not scenic whatsowver..., great fishing, but also always the treat they could be gone, down the drain so to speak, in an instant with one mistake from down below where the mining took place. But you had scuba gear down there....not for the lakes above you to come rushing down, but in case of..... Yep, I chose the safer job making electrical components, in a foreign country, responsible for producing mega dollars worth of small, but very complicated components built to almost impossible standards. Kind of like....make a car,... that beats every other car out there for performance,... at a cost less than any other car,...and....., and...how about without using gas or diesel, using garbage!!!?
Yep, we did it! So to speak. In our tiny specialty. We pulled off the impossible!
Maybe I should have taken the mining engineering job? I could have been fishing and on top of work at the same time?
Midgey and others. My neurologist still let's me drive even though I couldn't pass a standard DUI test. But to be able to drive I have to be highly medicated and carry narcotics with me. I got the card to hopefully not get drug charges. They could still arrest me for being under the influence but I would hope the card would help with that as well. I only drive a minamual amount but the card can't hurt.
If u search my post u will find what the card looks like
