I tried, but did not succeed...

Well, my job beat me up after just two days. I struggled cognitively to learn all that it would entail. Physically, I could already feel great stress on my body! But I tried! I’m proud that I at least gave it a shot. To be honest, the mental stress and the great exertion of my underused mind was too much. I am simply not the same person that I was before MS. I am not ashamed to say that it was too difficult for me. Thank you to all for the great love and support which I felt from you! Love, Kelly

Thank you for shating this. Its with great struggle that i dont try more thanbi can but still struggle with day to day things. Ive been so tempted to respond to the work feonhone for the disabled, texts i get from time to time. I want to feel worthwile for something so desperately but i have set a goal that i have to be able to take care of my self first and foremost. This is a good reminder for me as to save me from further discouragement right now. Its getting better slowly but still taking everything ive got. Thats why im quiet, i dont normally have the strentgth but working at it still. (Life)

Be proud of yourself, you gave it a shot. So I say congratulations on that. There may be something else out there that's less stressful physically and mentally if you chose.

I'm sure you will analyze what made it a good fit and not a good fit. you will need that info for the next time.

There were many things about the position which were perfect (the computer, etc), but they threw some physical expectations at me which were beyond my limitations. So, I learned a lot. But my brain sure got stretched to its limit!

That's too bad I'm sorry but maybe you may want to read about employee disability rights and employers who are required to accommodate your working environment, its the law , a federal law! Good luck and don't ever give up because MS told you that you can't do it

It's a true blessing that this community understands the impact of MS that we feel but is mostly hidden from the outside world. When I told the last team I worked with that I was unable to continue, the head was baffled. "You only work two days a week!" True, but to do that I had at least another day of preparation, and about 30 one way miles of commuting in heavy traffic in unfamiliar environments. It took such a toll that there were days when I barely stirred at all! Now, 5 years later, I volunteer 2 mornings a week and experience the same fatigue after. The energy it takes to work - physically and cognitively - may be invisible to others, but it is very real to us. (And in my case, advancing age is also a factor!) Well done, Kelly! You have talents and gifts to share and I'm sure that you will find a way to use them. 👍

I don’t know what kind of position you are looking for but with your spirit you will find something. Industries that allow or even encourage working from home are insurance (State Farm) financial (capital one) education, teaching in on line classrooms, accounting, especially this time of the year, sales etc etc. Don’t give up Amore. How about starting your own business? So many people need help with medical bills, you could help for a reasonable fee. How about selling online, buy products in bulk and sell them online. My wife( the one with MS) is pre diabetes and we are looking for sugar free muffins for breakfast and have trouble find them, do you bake? There is something out there waiting just for you amore. Good luck.Bob

Congrats to you Amore55.. you put yourself out there.. it may have not worked this time, but there are other times that it may work.. don't be defeated, feel inspired.. you tried, you desided that it wasn't working.. and you got out.. to go thru that I applaud you.. and I applaud you for knowing when to throw in the towel.. that took nerves too.. but don't let that defeat you.. you are "the bomb" as my daughter says..

I love the fact you gave it an attempt. Being the bullhead that I am I see jobs that I'm over qualified for and would love to apply but I know I wouldn't be able to handle it.It's great you gave it a shot 😊!!

Good for you for being able to recognize this was too much. This will eliminate one of the “what ifs”I sometimes start feeling like I should be doing more other than just taking care of myself -which I struggle with enough as it is so it would be unrealistic. I completely understand why you wanted to try.

Thank you for sharing this. It takes courage to talk about cognitive issues and I really like it how you’re proud of yourself for trying it out. Great job! My mind is definitely not wired like it used to be either. The daily fatigue is main culprit.
