Well I'm back in the hospital again. I spent the majority of 2016 in here due to 2 flares and 1 fall but this time I really did it. I fell Monday afternoon and broke my right leg, the big bone that runs from my knee to my ankle. I think the name of it starts with a T.
I'm in a wheelchair and was trying to transfer from the commode to my chair. When I stood up to swivel my legs just buckled and down I went. A friends son who was doing some work on my house got me out of the floor and into my chair.
My whole body was hurting when I went to sleep but when I woke up Tuesday morning I couldn't move anything from my waist down and my right knee was really hurting. I had no choice but to call 911 as I couldn't catheter and had lost bowel control.
I'm on steroids by IV along with antibiotics for a UTI. MS can really be a monster!!!

Oh my goodness, so sorry for your fall and symptoms you are now experiencing. While you are laid up and always, remember you have your MS family here waiting to hear from you. Please keep in touch with us. I am sending you prayers for peace, healing and recovery. Blessings, Lynn
MSWarrior_2016, it's Fancy1959. Oh my gosh! I hate to say you were lucky but I think you have just used up at least two of your nine lives! Are you safe setting now where you have someone with you 24 hours a day at least for a week or two until you are well on the mend? I haven't talked to you all that much so I forget if you ever mentioned to me your age? Are you on Social Security due to age or disability? If so talk to your insurance carrier and they will probably provide you nursing care assistance. That will have someone around least part of the day to make sure you're okay. You need not to be home alone right now obviously if you aren't safe doing basic functions.
The bone you were trying to think of that you broke I believe is the tibia. The most important thing you need to think about now is your safety. Do you save two devices when you move around the house indoor outside when you go for a walk or transfer things to and from even the car? I tried to never move around without my Walker with me. It's for my protection as I don't need to take any more falls either. A chain just doesn't cut it when you're having a lot of problems because it doesn't give you the security you need to protect yourself if you lose your balance. I also was lucky enough to find a used electric scooter this past year and I picked it up and I used it constantly when we go places where I know walking is going to be an issue.
Please please keep us informed and let us know how you are doing and what stage of healing you're in. I wish I was closer so I could help personally but that's the problem with the national chat room setting is were spread out all over the country. Even though you and I are only a state away the four to five hour drive might as well be halfway across the country for us due to our lack of being able to go large distances by ourself. Take care of yourself until we speak again. And please please be careful. Yours is a story that we can all relate to and we all need to be aware of it could happen to any of us at any time or should I say any second of any day. I'm sending you electronic hugs through this wire connection and lots of positive thoughts and prayers that you heal quickly and aren't in too much pain. Fancy
MSWarrior_2016 do you have one of those transfer boards, is it called a banana board, where you can slide from one item to another? I hope and pray that your pain can be controlled and that you heal quickly. Blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈 💐
Yes I have a transfer board but I don't usually have to use it as my legs usually support me. I had just cleaned myself and probably should have rested before I tried to transfer.
