Well I did a good one.

Sunday night ai fell while putting my chickens away. Got into an orthopedic dr on thursday. Surgery on friday for a broken shoulder. Ouch. I was supposed to get 2 screws and a plate. I ended up getting 11 screws and a plate. The only good news about this, is it is my left side and I am right handed. 12 weeks of recovery and now I am afraid to walk outside. I haven't spent any time with my goats or chickens. This sucks

This may have been a lesson for me to slow down. I am almost a week out from surgery. I can move a little better. But now I am terrified to walk on my property. I am looking into getting a golf cart or something to help me.

My family has been great. I just hate that I fell.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE EVERYONE, falling hurts.

So sorry about your fall😩 glad you have family to lean on and help while you recover. Eat healthy, protein to help heal those bones.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this now. Would a quad be better for you than a golf cart? I don't know the price of either, but if you have any distance to cover or a lot of rough ground, a golf cart might get bogged down when you need it most. My dream vehicle is a UTV with a bed. Not that I'll ever get one...😢

I have a quad that is broke down. It is too hard to steer and is very rough. We only have about 4 acres so i dont need much. Just something that is high and can go in mud in winter. I have been looking around. It will get me to the chickens but then i have to NOT fall. A bed would be nice so i can also take food down but that will be a while until my shoulder heals. If I was smart I would sell all my animals and just live differently, but I am not ready for that.

No, no, no. If the time comes, you'll know it, but those animals are what's keeping you active and happyish. My grandfather was a hobby farmer throughout adulthood, and at some point he decided to get rid of all his animals "just in case". He subsequently spent his remaining years bored, lonely, and with no sense of purpose. I know that he thought he was doing something good for the rest of us, but I so wish he'd kept a few for himself.

Oh dear! I think there are many of us with titanium inside. I have a plate and 10 screws in my wrist. Falls are Not fun!

Very sorry to hear that you fell and it's affecting your confidence and the time you can spend with your animals.☹️

Best of luck figuring out a solution that works for you. I hope you heal quickly!
