Extreme tiredness whenever I sit down

I'm absolutely fine when I'm stood up and moving about. But the moment I plonk myself in a chair or the sofa I'm done for. It doesn't take long before my eyes are drooping and I'm doing the nodding dog. Half the time I haven't even realized I've gone. I've got in the habit of setting an alarm for 30-45 mins when I sit down so I don't sleep too long. Sometimes an alarm isn't always needed as I have a habit of nursing a cup of tea/coffee in my hand and forget I'm holding it (see my previous post for details 😂)

Am I over doing it perhaps? Or is anyone else like this.

Sorry to hear you have such extreme exhaustion. By early evening once I sit down I'm done for the day. I don't hardly ever nap. Just get zombified. I don't like to nap because I feel worse. I may just need to sit or lie down when exhausted. The longer I sit or lie the more my body falls asleep. If I'm leaning back, my back falls asleep. If I'm leaning on my arm, it falls asleep. Numb/tingling, I mean by body falling asleep. When sleeping in bed my arms and legs go to sleep. I hate this. I wonder if your blood flow slows down and you fall asleep.

Lately, the past two weeks, I have done nothing but sleep. So I can really relate to your post. I am sleeping about 15-16 hours a day. All I have to do is sit down or lay down. I am going to get a sleep study done to find out what kind of quality sleep I get at night. It has become embarrassing.

I often feel this way ,it comes and goes. Get your vitals checked to make sure its not another problem brewing. Us folks with MS are victims of circulation problems. I have a muscle roller thingy that I roll over my legs and calves when I feel this way. ( looks like a small rolling pin ) It takes little effort, feels good, and keeps me awake. All in all, I feel your pain. frustrating.

The couch is quick sand

I love that analogy! I have days that I spend more time on the couch with the TV watching me than I do sleeping in the bed.

I feel like that now, but I know it's not something wrong. We are working all day long installing our kitchen! I ache, too. My husband has fallen asleep holding his cup of coffee. I don't know how he doesn't spill it in his lap! That's talent!

You may be just going beyond your limit without realizing it but you may not be getting good "quality" sleep as well. Ask your doctor about doing a sleep study. Also ask about getting your iron and vitamin d levels checked. If you're low on those, that can also cause fatigue that piles on top of the MS fatigue.

I have absolutely no problem falling asleep on the couch or in a chair, but get in bed & I'm wide awake! I think I have my days & nights mixed up...😴

After an active morning I have the same issue. The doctor has prescribed an afternoon dose of Ritilian to help with my energy level but even with that if I don’t keep moving I'm done. I often have to take a nap for upwards 2 hours.

I felt that way on muscle relaxers that’s why I stopped taking them.

Could it be related to any medications you're taking? I only felt like that when I had a relapse and pretty much slept for 3 days. What does your doctor have to say about it?
