OH, I'm so tired of falling down!

This time it happened at Costco. It's a long story, but I tripped over the wheel of my walker and fell on my back, went down hard on the cement. The only thing that really hurt was my head, but what a doozy of a headache it gave me!! Four hours later I've been checked out at Urgent Care with a CT scan and given a clean bill of health. My headache went away and I had a good night's sleep, so today I'm fine. Please pray that I'll quit falling down, if you're so inclined. Thank you and God bless.

g'day mate, (boy or girl) I might suggest that if you are going to fall down, learn how to do it without having to end up in the ER. There are techniques that you can learn. Ms Gym online might be a good start.

What a relief that you weren’t seriously injured! You’ll be in my prayers.

So glad that you are okay! I’ve only had my falls happen in the privacy of my home & usually I’m alone. Thankfully my hubby was asleep & woke up to my fall (of course it’s hard to ignore something tumbling down a flight of stairs) & came to check on me although I was ok. At least we have carpeted stairs & a linoleum landing.

Hitting the head on concrete is serious stuff! At least you weren’t alone & got checked out ASAP.

It's good news that you weren't seriously hurt, but banging your head on a concrete floor certainly does give a jolt to your brain. I suspect, that like all of us, you are careful because none of us wants to fall, but it is very very difficult to live as normally as possible without doing so. Speaking for myself, one moment of inattention is all it seems to take...I reach for something, I try to move too quickly, I momentarily look away, and wham, down I go. I'm glad your headache has gone.

so sorry for your fall!hitting your head could have done some bad damage, glad you got checked out and ok.I have fallen in public and it is embarrassing I don't know why, this is part of it.but don't get tired of folks saying "you have got to be careful"?I know they mean well but goodness ,do you really think I caused this on purpose?

That's why I used a cane for 5-1/2 years. Like Royce mentioned you have to learn how to fall! I've fractured this, broken that, went to an all inclusive for a week a while back, and I guess I had one too many tropical drinks there. That's when I gave up the cane! Haven't fallen since?

But, I still can't ride a 2 wheel bike, need 3 wheels. So, if you can't give up the walker, look for a recumbent one. Then like the recumbent bike, it's not far to the ground! And you're less likely to get hurt? Just no tropical drinks while triking! LOL! Wish I could remember where I saw those inflatable suits you wear so you don't get hurt falling down. They're rather bulky, and not fashionable, but what I wear Isn't fashionable either?

The National MS Society paid for my recumbent trike. I LOVE it!! I met a little toddler in my neighborhood. His parents were there and he came over. He goes, "I have a red trike!" I said, "So do I!!" It was cute.

I'm glad you're ok. I don't fall a lot, I just almost fall a lot.

The bigger stores have motorized wheelchairs for use that have a basket on them to put in your items. It feels funny to use one, but worth it. If you have a wheelchair at home you could use that (if you have someome to load it and put it back in the car).

i also fell at Costco but it was my own fault for in the beginning i wanted to still do it all by myself...i was trying to put a box of computer paper in the cart and a man said he will help and of course i said no thank you i can do it and of course after he walked away i got it on the cart and then fell backwards just hurt my bottom and pride so now it is better to say yes to the help....so glad you are okay ...that cement is hard and really hurts ...be careful....

I bet you have a big lump on your noggin! Ice it and be careful! I am 6 feet tall so when I fall I usually break something. I figure I have a longer way to go down. I am ALWAYS on the lookout when I'm moving around. At this point it's in the background of my head so I'm not completely conscious of it, but I hold onto things a lot and move very carefully. It hurts a lot to fall. I seem to do it in slow motion. As I go I think, "Oooo, this is going to hurt" and then crash!

I am so glad you are okay, falling backwards onto a hard surface is one of the easiest ways to cause serious damage. It may sound odd, but you are better off falling forward and hitting the front or side of your head on the ground. When I'm going down, I normally "turn off" my legs and collapse into a pile, that way the ol' noggin never gets a nasty impact.
