Not every day has to be hard, a battle. "YOU" do remember Dr Aaron Boster saying it is possible to make Relapsing-Remitting ms (RRms) a boring disease? That should always be your aim, as boring as possible. It can be done. I personally I know of several people who swear to be very bored with their RRms. It takes some learning and a great deal of adjustment, but it is well worth it.
A long boring life with RRms asks a lot of "YOU". Getting to the stage of boredom takes time and a good strong plan. Disease-Modifying Therapy (DMT), a healthy diet and exercise regime are good starts. Of course there are other things that "YOU" will search for as your years continue. I believe RRms is a young adult illness, all things considered, "YOU" should live into your Sixties, Seventies or Eighties. Some even older. What are "YOU" going to do with all those years? I am serious, what are "YOU" planning on doing. "YOU" have got your RRms to be boring, "YOU" make adjustments when necessary. "YOU" are quite good at your disability, but "YOU" need something more. That is the tricksy part, that something more. Something to get "YOU" out of bed, off the couch, something to give "YOU" a reason. In my case, this has changed several times over my twenty-plus years with RRms. I anticipate that it will change again before I pass.
This is our lot in this life. Come to terms with a chronic illness. Manage any unanticipated event carefully, live our current adventure and accept that another may come along and change everything. Find beauty and joy in the smallest of things, wonder about everything. Never stop learning this illness and its impact on "YOU". There are new theories coming out alot, new ways to do things. New thoughts to be had and explored. Never let yourself stagnate, "YOU" are far too good to be wasted. That cold, wet corner is not for "YOU". There is bright sunshine outside, and it can be for"YOU, it takes a little time and tenacity, but "YOU" can do it. RRms has not beaten "YOU" down, smile be smart, and it never will.
