Shingles

I had the shingles this year, and it was horrible! So now I am looking at getting the newest vaccine in December. I think I can get it then. I just know I DON'T want the shingles again!!!!! I've heard the second shot is VERY painful. I sure do dread that!

Make sure you check with your neuro before you get it mepilot61 there might be a time frame between the shot and your MS meds!

Other than that I know nothing!😂🤗💕🦈

I had both with only the typical ful-like reaction. I’m not sure why the second injection would be any different from the first unless it was technique of the one giving it.

I wish you the best. Shingles can be like a nightmare.

The new shingles vaccine comes in two doses, It is a deep muscle vaccine just like Avonex. Yes, it is more painful than a flu shot, but certainly not anything to dread. I had it and it is much better than getting shingles!

The new one is Shingrix and is not a live virus. I had the first shot a little over two months ago and just got notice due for second. You get the second one two to six months after first one for full effects. The first one was like a flu shot except it was really sore to touch for 3-4 days. I had minor flu like symptoms but did everything as normal. Ken 🐾🐾

Thank you! I've been putting it off, I'm going to do it! At least move it up the never ending to do list?

I had it , they were not painful. The new one is safe for people with m.s., according to my doctor and what I’ve read.

I had both shots last year and neither felt any different to me than when I receive a flu shot. I had never heard that the Shingrix shot is painful. I did have some flu like symptoms after the second shot.

I received mine at the end of May and my arm hurt for about 4 days like a bad punch 🤜. had my last Ocrevus infusion April 15th called my neurologist and she said I could get it. I have to get my second dose in 2 to 6 months, they say the second one doesn’t hurt like the first one.

I just got the second shot three days ago. The arm pain feels the same as the first. It’s almost good today but not quite. The first shot caused a relapse for me (pseudo to be precise). Feeling the fatigue from this second one now. But I’d rather fatigue and a little cog fog than shingles!!

It can't be as bad as shingles! I've had it, too. I've tried to get the new vaccine but everyone's out! I had the old shot and want to get the new one...if I can find someone with it in stock!

Whatever the pain might be from the shot, it's better than suffering with shingles. I know of a man who has been suffering with a very painful patch of shingles on his forehead for over 3 years! It has not gone away! Nothing he has taken has relieved him of the pain. He does not have any other ailments that I know of, but suffers constantly with this awful pain on his face. Get the shots, of course with the blessings of your Neuro!

Oh, how horrible for that man!!!! Nerve pain IS horrible! I didn't think mine would ever stop, but thank God it finally did!!

My husband has had the new vaccine, 2 shots, 2 months apart, and his only reaction was a little soreness in the arm for a day on the second shot.

How awful, mepilot61 ! I live in terror of getting shingles. I asked my neuro if I could get the vaccine and he said no live vaccines. Then the Shingrix vaccine came out and I asked about that and he said it wouldn't work because the MS effect on the immune system would kill the vaccine. Is there a new vaccine since Shingrix? Can MS people get no protection from this most miserable virus?

I don't know! I pan on asking my Neuro about getting the flu shot the !middle of Feb. That's the earliest I can take it. I hope he doesn't object. I don't want the shingles ever again!
