I thought that some of you might be interested in this article about IF intermittent fasting and reducing inflammation as it could possibly help reduce inflammation in the central nervous system so here's the article please see:
I'd also like to inform members that members of HU staff started Fasting and Furious in March this year for anyone interested in fasting to so here's a link to it:
Thanks for the post! I've read about intermittent fasting, but have never done it. Have you tried this? I hope others who have used IF will add their comments.
Hi and thank you, I fast for 12 or 14 hours most days as that leaves my digestive system alone and it helps restore our health but I don't do it to lose weight or restrict calories.
I think anything that can improve our health without meds has to be a good thing so think it's great that simple things like fasting are being looked at for many health benefits.
And I agree it will be interesting if ant members have any experience of IF.
I have never done any fasting, intermittent or otherwise. If I don't eat, I have no energy. But when I used to eat garbage, that left me worse off than not eating at all. Sugar was the worst. I am on the candida diet, as is my husband. It is fantastic.
I do IF daily from between 15 to 18 hours from my last meal at dinner time to my first meal the next morning. I also do some prolonged fasting occasionally. The longest I have made it was 100 hours. I have read that limiting calories through fasting helps with MS and after fasting for extended periods of time when you start refeeding it boosts stem cell production. I have been fasting for a while and I have not noticed any good or bad effects from it.
