Yes, I am rather upset. Not at “YOU” at me. I am missing something and I just have not found it. I will eventually, maybe today, I am not sure I can but hope.
Now before “YOU” go any further please understand I am “NOT” any type of therapist or medical professional. Never have been and never will be. What I am is a man who has lived with Relapsing Remitting ms (RRms) for over twenty years. I am also quite close to a woman who has enjoyed her RRms for twenty three or twenty four years. So a little experience. Not positive she has enjoyed it, but it is important to look for a bright side.
“YOU” have just started on your ms life journey. There is no need to be scared. Things are different now and that “YOU” must accept to live your life, and believe me it will be a very long life. Sixty or seventy years plus for most of us. My friend it is your life and if “YOU” want to live it well, which I assure you is possible, “YOU” have to stand up stomp your foot down have a hissy fit if need be and state what “YOU” wan t loudly and clearly.
“YOU” want to start on Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) yesterday, if not the day before. If somebody says oh wait and see what happens then we might start therapy but there is no hurry, lets just wait. FIRE them, get a new doctor. This is a progressive disease. Do “YOU” understand me? “PROGRESSIVE”, if “”YOU” wait and see it has gotten worse, “YOU” will “NEVER” get that back one hundred percent. That is the nature of our illness, progressive. I have difficulty riding a bicycle, I can not run or drive, progressive. Take DMT as soon as “YOU” are didiagnosed (Dx’d) and then stay on it until they put “YOU” in the ground. Now it is a fact not every DMT works for everyone, do not expect it. Personally I have been on three in my twenty plus years. She who must be obeyed has been on two. So do not be disappointed if “YOU” change once or twice before “YOU” get it right.
This is not an easy illness, “YOU” will need to learn to accept changes and disappointments. This is the nature of ms and it is up to “YOU” to learn to cope with them, but let me assure “YOU” that “YOU” CAN. A long happy life with this disease in obtainable today. Not just happy but “YOU” can be very contented and fulfilled. Your life can be good “YOU” just have to choose to make it that way.
Last point I am not an expert but he is Dr Aaron Boster, look him up on YouTube and watch his shows it is a good start for your ms education.
Did I find the right words for “YOU” today, I hope so, if not tell me politely and privately. I will try to do better next time.
Royce
Until then live your ms life to your best
