It's been an up and down week. I'm walking slowly with a cane, which means I am able to go outside to the garden on nice days. Early this week, I walked around the garden beds, noting emerging daffodil beds, picking up a few sticks, enjoying the experience. When I came back inside, I noticed a foul odor and thought I must have stepped in something dead. As I checked my shoes, I realized it was not my shoes. It was my ankle. I called the surgeon, picked up an antibiotic and began taking it as directed. On Wednesday, a hospital called me to get details for my Friday surgery. This was news to me because I hadn't yet seen my surgeon. On Thursday, I saw the surgeon. He did exrays; these show that the bones are knitting together and that the internal fixations are in place. At home, I am applying manuka honey to the site of the incision that is still scabbing and draining.
Talking with the surgeon was somewhat reassuring but although the Friday operating room reservation was cancelled (the reason for the Wednesday call), he has reserved one for Tuesday next week in case the results of the blood work done yesterday reveal a need to reopen the site, clean it out. So I am on hold until Monday when I see him again.
He has reassured me that if another surgery is needed, recovery will be shorter (weeks, not month) and although I may be in a boot again, I will be able to come home, sparing me the ordeal of rehab. I will keep my MS family posted.
Jimeka please send me a bubble suit of the highest rated material. I do not ever again want to slip, lose my balance, go down and take so long to return to full function. It is hard to believe that this all began in September. Last year!!

Oh my goodness goatgal you certainly have been through the mill. I hope and pray that the antibiotics are strong enough to kill the bacteria. Please keep us posted as to what you are to have next, I hope it’s not surgery. Good news that your bones are functioning well. Nice to hear your daffodils are up, I have one in bud, and my purple miniature iris’s are out. Big hug, blessings Jimeka 🦋 🍫 💐
I am sorry that things are going slowly but you are getting better and I am happy to hear that you went for a walk outside. Take care of yourself and stay safe.☀️💕🚶🏼♀️
What a long ordeal you have been through! I’m so sorry things have been stirred up again. I hope and pray that this is only a small setback, and that will get through this quickly.
I am so sorry for your setback but happy you got to see things starting to grow outside. At this time nothing around me is even close to growing. I can't wait for it as spring makes me feel better. Hope you feel better soon!
