Hey Rob. I got a book on Amazon about anti-inflammatory diet by Scott sterling. I won't say it was the most helpful book, it is ok. I also did some research on it just on the internet.

Diets are not fun, let's call them lifestyle changes. But they can work. The thing that has always worked for me is counting calories. It's a pain at first, like all changes. I started counting just before thanksgiving and have lost 15 lbs. Gone from a size i won't tell you to a size i won't tell you. 😀 i have 20 more to go!I

Wishing you success!

Karen-x Thanks! I am not trying to loose weight. I am looking to cut inflammation through a diet. I am a very happy fat magic marker! :). The whole point is to hopefully help with my pain. or so I have been told.

Hey Karen! I feel like I was snippy with you! I didn't;t mean to be. Sorry. Proud of your progress! loosing weight over the holidays is very impressive! I am just mad I have to give up more stuff because of MS. It is really starting to piss me off. I have been praying for you and hope all is well!

I did not take your reply as snippy. Not by any means. I have heard the anti-inflammatory diet helps with pain. And I'm sorry MS has taken away something else. But perhaps much of your pain is from things like CAR/BIKE accidents, broken hips, bones, skulls. 😁

Didn't you miss me?

starlight5 Thanks! I truly hope your flair up has nothing to do with your diet. it is just this stupid monster! I promise you that!

The problem with me is pain. I want to cut the pain. I am on so much opioids. They work, but the government and the insurance companies are making it so hard to obtain the dosage my Dr thinks I need, They think I need 10x's less. Been there, done that. Didn't work! AHHHHHHHHHH I think I am going crazy! I am starting to argue with myself and loose...................

Okay, back to the subject. Anyway you get the point. I think everybody does. I just have started eating healthy last year. High fiber, high protein. Cut my calories in half. Especially during the winter when I can't safely get outside and get any exercise. You all know I cannot walk in the house without falling and not just hurting myself. LOL! But, heres the but. My wife wants me to try an anti inflammatory diet. I really truly don't want to give up anything else. That is the part people even loved ones don't get. I have basically given my life to this f'n disease. Do I really need to give up Ice cream and steak and bacon too!? I feel as if I am 8 and stomping around about having to make my bed. I am a petulant little child!

Lois, I will check out that website! Thanks so much! Sorry about my little outburst! I am sitting here watching it snow and it is making me mad. So, I am writing mad.

You all ROCK! Thanks!

Hi, Rob, I don’t know if you’re still in pain, your message was six months ago and I just now saw it. I am a patient at New York Pain Physicians because I have severe arthritis in my spine. Get OFF those opioids and try this: Tizanidine HCL, 2 mg tablet. Take one and your pain will lessen significantly, take two and your pain will be gone but you’ll be pretty drowsy. I hope this helps.

Hi Rob

Saying hi from across the big pond and it's flipping freezing. I don't know if this will help u I've cut out beef and just try to eat turkey, chicken and fish. I do miss steak at times but im not sure if it's helping but that's what I do.

janetb1968 Thanks! I keep finding that cutting out red meat is a big one! Also, don't worry Temp here in Chicago is 15 degrees F and feels with the wind like 6f and we got about 5 inches of snow so far today. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I appreciate your input!

Hi Rob! Dr. Andrew Weil created an anti-inflammatory food pyramid that might give you some ideas: drweil.com/diet-nutrition/a... There is more information on his website about anti-inflammatory eating. I've also read that the Mediterrean diet is anti-inflammatory. Here is one article about that: worldhealth.net/news/medite...

I'm a believer in everything in moderation because the minute I tell myself I can't have something, I start to crave it. In May of last year I was horrified when weighed at my doctor's office because it was my all-time highest weight so I was determined to get healthier once I was living in my own space again. (I was staying with family at the time.) So in early July after I moved, I started to improved my eating and fitness. I've lost 20lbs and still want to lose a few more but even the 20lbs made a difference in how I feel because I'm not a big person. I don't follow any specific dietary program...I just made it up as I read things and saw how specific changes affected me. I also don't call it a diet because these are permanent life-style changes I've made. I don't have issues with pain except for neuropathy in my lower legs but I can tell you that I feel better overall. Any positive change in your eating habits should help at least some.

Salmon is a good one! I probably only remember because I like salmon.

My nutritionist has recommended cutting dairy products, gluten, processed carbs, etc. She says all of these can aggravate an already delicate gut. Do I follow her recommendations? Not completely. I do feel better overall when i eat smart.
