Next time you need to empty your bladder

I read an article and it was saying that when you empty your bladder lean forward to completely empty the bladder.

I tried it and it works.

Sorry guys I don't know what works for you.

I lean forward, which helps. I sill have to relax more when I still feel my bladders not completely empty. I think it's going to be just a dribble, and somtimes it is, but then I persist and I'm surprised how much comes out in a pretty good stream 😀. My prostate is also a bit enlarged. The things we write about in this site. Certainly not normal for me.

Maybe that's one of the beauties of online communication at times. On this site, we can write pretty freely about things that would normally be less than great dinner conversation because we know others here can understand. I'm always grateful when folks are willing to share some things that work for them, like rjoneslaw now shared, even though it's personal stuff.

I have dealt with this problem for about 15 years now. (dx'd 1998) . My Urologist tested my bladder said that I have a Neurogenic Bladder. No clue except that it can not tell if it is empty or not. So I always sit for an extra 5 minutes and lean forward (yes! It does work) and go again. Might not work for everyone but it does for me. My hubby has to self-cath sometimes (dx'd 1982) to empty out completely.

Yep on the leaning forward... I also lift my knees up going on point if you will... It takes sooooo much longer to take a pee, but still can... I also drink drink drink all day long to continually flush my bladder and kidneys--take oxybutynin so I can hold it, but find that a full bladder is easier to empty completely than one that's not very full... always think of flushing my bladder and kidneys knowing that it's a good idea...

I wish I could do that, and yes, I am genuinely envious of you. I take oxybutynin and it does not work if I am drinking, drinking drinking. Just enough to get me through work....sometimes.

mind you, I don't work and spend lots of time at home...I agree that this method would not work if I did...

Almost since my Dx, I've had to use the crede method: I press with my hand on my belly until I feel my bladder. I press until I am able to recreate the sensation of urgency. In short, I have a neurogenic bladder with urgency, frequency, AND hesitation/retention.

Yes, I agree that leaning forward helps tremendously and also the pressing on the bladder area. I have wayyyyyy too many bladder infections, and have forever. Urologist has me drinking 80oz. water per day. Sadly, I miss that goal too many days, but keep on trying! Best to all of you! Thanks for all your sharing! We all need all the help we can get!

My neurologist said a lot of her MS patients are having good luck with the "squatty potty". It actually helps with bladder and bowel elimination. I haven't tried one yet but I am tempted. Leaning forward does seem to help most of the time for bladder emptying.

a doctor also refered me to a segment of shark tank where there is an attachment to the potty to put sorta a stool under your feet, so angle is everything...ok yip you don't see me blushing a bit but great ideas!
