I love it! They are always amazed that i can stay so still for so long. Takes 45 mins off the time they estimate. Its like - dude. U have seen how many of these i have done right? Seriously
I show up with leggings and a no-metal bra. I'm going to be as comfortable as possible on that darn table so they only have to do it once and it goes as fast as possible. The last guy who did it commented that I must have done it a few times before. Yes indeed! I feel like I've reached MRI pro status.
Last one I did was 3. and had music πΆ headsets any station. Was a lot nicer than bang bang bang knock knock knock ding ding ding etc. Went lot quicker ππ€ͺ Ken πΎπΎπΎ
I guess Iβm lucky. I donβt hear a thing they put me on enough sedation to keep me still so they basically have to knock me out. Iβm laying on that stinking hard board I hurt to bad to be still so just wake me up when itβs over.π€ͺππ€£.
Iβm able to be completely still for the entire MRI but my husband can get in one and go to sleep. I kid you not! I cannot do that. I have to have earplugs of course and the pillow under my knees. Maybe a blanket if it feels cool but I have never even come close to dozing off. Not even when they gave me Ativan ahead of the test. It was like eating m&mβs because it did absolutely nothing for me. I guess all the meds over the years, I have built up a tolerance? Didnβt phase me.
I count the rhythmic knocks, puts me to sleep every time. I usually wake myself up by snoring... After that, it's back to counting the cycles. It helps keep me focused and still.
I have fallen asleep before and they had to redo a scan because my leg twitched. Now I try to not to fall asleep when I have an MRI. Ours does not have the music that everyone talks about.
When I fell asleep last time, I was getting the spinal scan. Tomorrow's a brain scan, so they'll force the cage over my head--that might keep me from sleeping. I do know my sciatic nerve starts hurting, and I get so stiff, I have a hard time sitting up when it's all over.
I need to go in for a brain & spine MRI soon and wondering if they will make me wear a face mask in the tube? Seems like that would feel awful to have that on in addition to the face "cage" and "stay still" commands!
Good question Boxofchocolates π€ I can't remember if I had to wear one when I was in the hospital. It was a blrr π€£π Call and ask them? And ask for extra xanax!ππ€ππ
I have no trouble sitting still for MRIs. I usually try to count the seconds between the scans to see how close I can get. Itβs like playing a game. It sounds like when somebody pounding on my roof to have it reshingled. So I kind of pictured it that way. . I donβt take the enhancing medication because itβs really not necessary to have that getting into one brain and it can stay there for a long long time unless itβs really necessary And my neurologist agrees. The scan without medication shows enough to know if lesions are new or old.I havenβt had any active ones since I was diagnosed actually about 18 years ago. If anything changes and I probably would need to have a scan with the mri enhancing medication.
