My 10 year old son has just been diagnosed with lichen sclerosus on his neck. It is very noticeable and bothers him a lot.

We began daily application of steroid cream on Friday to what is basically a large patch of raised white patches with scales and brown pigment stains. Does anyone have experience of this disease and will his skin ever return to normal? I was so delighted to at last get a diagnosis I forgot to ask the dermatologist whether it would all eventually disappear. We are next seeing him in a month.

Hi Jenny, I don't have Lichen sclerosus (LS) but according to the literature it's manageable but not curable. Patches that occur on the arms or upper body can go away over time, but sometimes permanent scarring occurs.

All the best, and I hope things work out for your son,

Join the group lichen sclerosus- LS on Facebook as they have good info on how to manage it well. I also have MS and am trying Protandim for that, and hoping it might also fight the LS.
