OCD once every month?

I wonder whether anyone else experiences this. I have generalised anxiety disorder but once a month I’ll typically have an irrational anxiety/obsession that I will ruminate on for hours/days on end. After this period of time/for the next three weeks I’m back to next to no anxiety/ low-level generalised anxiety. Has anyone else experienced this or similar?

could be your hormonal change before your menstrual. I have to double my meds 3 days before until 2 days into my period. Doctor said it’s very common.

Thanks for your response! I have seen this method and am interested in trying, but I am currently on the contraceptive implant so am unsure as to how I would do it as I don’t have a regular cycle?

I've not had a contraceptive implant, but I would imagine it works in a similar way to the pill. I'm surprised it doesn't regulate your periods.

It's common for OCD to follow the monthly cycle in women of menstruating age. In fact, it goes on for some years after the menopause - the cycle continues to some extent, although without any bleeding.

One helpful tip is to take a daily dose of vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine. It can be bought over the counter in most chemists and drugstores or health food shops - I just bought some magnesium and B6 tablets in the supermarket! It is know to help with the menstrual cycle.

I would think this has to do with you menstrual cycle, best thing is to check with your doctor about it.

Has it started occuring since you were put on the implant?. Could be that isn't the best thing for you, if so.

Cheers, Midori
