I have ocd and am currently struggling with a memory from a very long time ago. I 💯 remember one aspect of the memory, a conversation I had with a friend. However, I don’t know if the distressing part is false memory. It’s almost like my Brain is taking bits and pieces of several things and recreating them in this memory. It seems so real.but it changes based on the fears.
Is it true that if you remember one part of the memory for certain, then the uncertain parts must be false memory?

Hi, False memories are just another one of OCDs silly tricks! If you think it's a false memory, chances are it is! I have struggled with this theme over the years...I found Jon Hershfield's posts/blogs very helpful!
thanks for your response. It’s just so frustrating to know because the memory itself is real. It was a conversation. I can remember what was said up to a point, and then the rest seems to be just filled in with my ocd… but it sounds like something I could’ve said? But I honestly have no exact memory of saying it, and my mind is telling me maybe it was another convo I had about the same thing, which I can’t verify having either , if that makes sense
I mean , If I can remember exact parts of the convo otherwise like what I said I was doing or what the other person said they were eating , isn’t it likely the ocd fear of what I might of said is a false memory? Wouldn’t I remember it exactly
