In my role as a school chaplain, I often have to navigate issues of trauma/grief. While I appreciate the chance to walk alongside those who struggle, sometimes my OCD is triggered in those moments. This week, unfortunately, is one of those weeks. And yet, I continue to stay in this vocation because it is literally one of my biggest values...despite what OCD might say sometimes!
Outside of school chaplaincy (and my amazing students), I choose to fight my OCD for my values of family, my kitties, my partner, and ultra marathon running. What are some of your values that remind you to fight OCD, even when things get a little sticky?!

It really helps to move toward our values when we're feeling a bit low.
I have been struggling a bit as well this week. I had an intense session of trauma work which triggered my OCD so I've had quite the double whammy. Whenever I feel like that it tends to make me feel like I'm not the best Mom/partner/advocate etc because I'm not as fully present and positive as I would like to be.
I think the biggest things that motivate me to fight my OCD are:
My son - it sounds so cliche but he is everything to me!
Thank you so much for your vulnerability! I can relate to this so so so much. In the midst of trauma/triggers, I become very hard on myself about not being fully present and positive. We all deserve a little self-compassion. I LOVE the values you've shared...what amazing reasons to fight your OCD!!❤️
