Many countries don't have a free health service. I'm in England, and we have the National Health Service, which is free and funded by taxes. The problem is that it isn't funded enough and often patients have to wait many months before they get treatment - this goes for both physical and mental conditions.
Try doing ERP on your own - it is difficult, I agree, but it does work. Make sure you are guided by a self help book that uses CBT.
Take little steps - go at your own pace. It should be rigorous enough to stretch you and cause you some discomfort, without being so extreme that you simply can't do it. Remember that the discomfort will go in due course. Then try a little more.
Try to put off OCD worries. A method I've been taught, that I've found useful, is to tell yourself you won't worry about something right now, but that you'll allow yourself ten minutes' worry time later on. Pick an actual time - say 5.30. Then allow 5.30 to come and go without the worry - the odds are that you'll have forgotten all about it!
Getting over OCD is a hard road, but it's worth the effort - painful though it is!
I am in China, therapy is not covered by my insurance here, only medicine is covered by insurance.
China does not have many therapist know how to treat OCD. I was doing online therapy with OCD center of Los Angeles in the USA. 225USD is a lot for me. Especially now I do not make good money.
ocdchallenge.com is a free ERP online program designed by OCD specialists. You don’t interact with an OCD specialist however. iocdf.org and ocdaction.org.uk are two free great resources. The IOCDF does livestreams which are attended by people around the globe on platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and others. The livestreams provide support, education and community. You can also ask questions through the chat feature. You can subscribe to the IOCDF channel on the particular platform. Freedom from OCD by Jonathan Grayson, Ph.D is one of the top recommended books by OCD experts.
Look up Shannon Shy. He is on Facebook, Instagram and You Tube and has written three books which are wonderful. He is a retired marine who was very ill with OCD. He describes his experiences and his strategy helped him get better. He also offers peer support at a minimal fee.
Hi! Therapy is very expensive for my family…it is $250 USD. We found a way to pay weekly for awhile but went down to only every other week now. Hopefully if ERP can be done at home it will only be once a month with the OCD therapist.
Have you read/done any workbooks?
You can maybe find them online…I got some from my local library.
Is NOCD available to you? It’s been helpful for many in the support group I attend.
Support groups are good for resources that worked for others. You can join one from anywhere in the world. The iocdf website is where I found my support group. 🩵
Find a good therapist that speciallizes in treating OCD. They should have completed BTTI Training (Behavior Therapy Training Institute) very important!! Training with Exposure and Response Therapy (ERP).
