Hi, my first time here. I have been struggling for several years now, but the last two, and especially this year, have become very difficult. I saw a psychologist for well over 6 months but did not feel it was much help. Two months later now, I am really struggling. Went to see the GP today and got prescribed Sertraline. Will have to start talking therapy soon too (advised by the GP). I know I will see my GP in two weeks time, but what is the general (if there is such a thing) process, will I get a proper diagnosis? Or is that it? What is waiting for me?

How do you get a diagnosis in the UK?
Hi! Ihave afriend in the UK with OCD and depression. Through her GP she got referred to a specialist (I asusme a psychiatrist), got prescribed meds, and then she was referred to a psychotherapist and gets CBT. All this throuhg the NHS. So I believe you will get referrals from your GP and next you'll see specialists (be it psychiatrist, then psychotherapist), etc. Good luck, it's great you're looking for help!
I got a proper diagnosis of a psychiatrist it was then that I could understand more about my condition and was prescribed meds and cbt.
They did work but I’m now having a relapse I’m waiting to be seen by a phychiatrist again but with the current pandemic the waiting list is long I can’t afford to go private but determined to educate myself again on the condition and keep fit and healthy.
Hope you get sorted
