Question about Certain SSRIs

I had recently taken the GeneSight Phychotropic test, which revealed some pretty interesting results about how I interact with many SSRIs. I wasn't really surprised with the results after my own trial and error with some of these medications and the negative effects that they had on me. There were four, however, that were in the green, meaning they are least likely to not cause any issues for me. These include:

–desvenlafaxine (Pristiq® )

–levomilnacipran (Fetzima® )

–selegiline (Emsam® )

–vilazodone (Viibryd® )

Has anyone ever had experience with any of these medications for their OCD symptoms? If so, how was your experience? Thank you, in advance, for your feedback.

I haven't tried any of these medications. However, I would maintain a healthy degree of skepticism. I recommend Googling the founder of Myriad, the company that developed the Genesight test you took. I did a quick search of Viibryd, which I had never heard of, and found a study that compared it with Lexapro. It said the 2 meds are comparable, except that Lexapro has a generic version & is therefore much cheaper. More costly does NOT mean better. Remember that pharmaceutical companies are in business to make money. Not saying the test or the drug are bad, but just keep your eyes open before you spend thousands of dollars. Best of luck.

Hi Elisheva99, Thank you. I totally know what mean about the companies and their main interest in making money. I did find the test results particularly interesting, though. The three prior SSRIs that I had taken in the past were in my low tolerance category, which was pretty spot on, since I definitely had severe reactions to all three. There is one medicine that I am currently taking and have no side effects whatsoever, and that appears in the good to go category in my results. I guess there is some accuracy in that. :-)

Well, I really hope this works out for you. It's not fun trying out different meds and feeling like a guinea pig. I had a severe reaction to one SSRI many years ago and ended up pacing all night, unable to sit still. One day of that was enough for me. Best of luck!!!!

Thank you. Yes, I know what you mean. I had that reaction to Zoloft...it was awful. I was done with it after that night.

Omg, for me it was also Zoloft! And yet my Dad took it for years with no problems at all.

following up to your old post. I’m trying to find anyone else who has taken Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) for their OCD. Did you end up trying that one? My son has been put on it after it was determined to be a “good potential fit” based on his testing also. Just not finding much literature on using it for ocd although his doctor tells me it is ,
