Jess and all the scrupulosity fears reporting in!

I’m Jess and I’m new to this forum but not to OCD! I’ve had OCD probably since I was 6 or 8 at least and was diagnosed at 19. Scrupulosity is my main “anxiety of choice” with a smattering of others. Looking to know I’m not alone and get some help and support.

Hello and welcome. Scrupulosity was a big issue for me for about 25 years. My OCD has largely moved on to other things but scrupulosity and moral concerns still crop up. (Just now I hesitated before typing "25 years" because I had the thought it might have been significantly more or less and I didn't want to "lie" by misrepresenting it...) Therapy (ERP) and medication have helped with all of my OCD themes, but of course it's an ongoing journey.

I remember when I was a kid and it felt like I was the only one with weird thoughts. It's helped tremendously to find out that it's just a disorder, that other people have it too, and that I don't have to pay attention to the fake rules and rituals I used to make up. I'm now able to have much more freedom in life and a much more mature spirituality.

I know there are other folks here who have struggled with scrupulosity. Don't hesitate to share any specific concerns; you're likely to get good advice, or at least some support!
