I am usually not sure when I get thoughts if it is OCD.
The way to find out if it is OCD is that does the thought give me anxiety ?
Yes, if the thought gives me anxiety, then it is OCD.
Anxiety is the main feature for OCD.
The anxiety comes with doubts, and that is a signal that it is OCD.
Once I realize that I am doubting something, and it is creating anxiety, then I need to resist myself from giving into the compulsions.
If I gave into the compulsions, then I imagine myself pressing a Reset Button, and trying more harder to resist any new compulsion.
This gives me a chance to learn from my mistakes.
It has nothing to do with the topic which OCD latches upon, since OCD can randomly choose any topic.
The main thing is that it is just OCD.
It is a big part in the therapy process, to realize that all these doubts are just OCD.
I hope these techniques are helpful in our journey of battling OCD.
