Switching Tendencies?

Hello friends!

I, like many of you, suffer from OCD. I don't often repeat behaviors but I do have some signs of fear of germs, obsessive thoughts, counting, etc. I have been re-watching some episodes of Monk *for those of you who don't know what that show is.. it's about a detective who has some form of an anxiety disorder but the signs are OCD related.* As I'm watching this, I find myself picking up on some of his tendencies that I haven't really had before such as repeating behaviors like touching multiple signs or street posts. I was just wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience of sort of piggybacking off of somebody else's tendencies. I read a couple of articles that say this is rare to switch up tendencies and that you can do different kinds of the same tendency such as instead of counting steps, you can switch to counting how many bites of food you eat. I haven't read articles that suggest you can pick up on new tendencies. Am I going crazy or is this something that happens to other people? Side note - I should probably stop watching Monk if this is happening but the show is so good. It's comedic and a little far fetched as some of OCD tendencies go and some people may say it's insensitive but I kind of feel like my OCD isn't as bad because I don't show the kind of tendencies he has. (But I am beginning to act like him in certain ways)

Anyway - If you experience this or not please let me know.. I am very curious.

Thank you in advance! .
