Memantine

Anyone on this glutamate modulater? How long did it take to take effect? what dose are you on? Anyone stop taking? why?

I was on memantine long time ago for OCD.

It did not work out for me.

I do not remember if there were any bad side effects.

But I know that it did not work for OCD.

I've been on memantine for 5 years. I take 10 mg twice a day. I haven't noticed any side effects. It seems to be working well at keeping my OCD under control. However, when I started it, I was also in the process of switching my main antidepressant from Anafranil (generic name is clomipramine) to Zoloft (generic name is sertraline) and was also undergoing intensive ERP at the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. So, it is hard to tell which of all these treatments helped most with bringing my OCD to a manageable level.
