OCD or Social Anxiety?

I am not sure if I have social anxiety or OCD. I don't know why it bothers me but I feel like I "have" to know. I have this thought that every time I go out in public or people look at me they think I am weird, strange or abnormal. Whenever I leave the house this thought is with me at ALL times. When I am walking down the street, taking public transportation, taking the elevator, waiting for my drink. When i am physically anxious, I feel I look "weird" but If I feel relaxed I feel I look "okay," I do certain things to stop myself from looking weird such as taking out my phone , the need to look busy all the time, fidgeting with my hair, saying song lyrics in my head so I dont get the thought that I look weird, repeating in my head nobody is looking at me, when I walk by someone and think they're thinkng bad things about me I count from 5, and I smile in my mouth to stop myself from looking 'weird.' Are these symptoms of OCD or Social Anxiety?

I think you'd be surprised how many people feel this same way. I'm don't think it is either OCD or Social Anxiety so much as being a human, we all feel vulnerable like that often, sometimes more than others. Ironically the others around you are wondering what YOU think of them. Perhaps you should look around and decide what you DO think of them when you feel weird. Who are they to judge?

Consider seeking out a therapist that specializes in OCD/anxiety. As helpful as this forum is, it's no replacement for hashing out details with someone trained in treating OCD/Anxiety. -just a hot take.
